The XPS 14 gets the GT630M with 1GB GDDR5.

Since we don't have Nvidia throughout all the consumer laptop lines, I'd say this one is partially implemented. If the idea were for XPS only- as the title suggests- it would be fully implemented. (Alienware has the GTX680m now on the 17" and 18" units.)bhaumikshah commented on Put GDDR5 (in GPU)memory in XPS,Inspiron laptops!bhaumikshahhttps://www.salesforce.com/00a7000000GRzUdAALI think they can put 3 or 3.5 GB dedicated video memory on XPS 17z laptop with GT 660m GDDR5 GPU and for Alienware it can put Dual GPU options with SLI technology with GT 670m GPUs. This way alienware's premium gaming laptop image will be preserved and XPS users will get ultimate powerful mobile Gaming laptop which they will be able to take to their offices also.StigtriX commented on Put GDDR5 (in GPU)memory in XPS,Inspiron laptops!StigtriXhttps://www.salesforce.com/00a7000000GRNkkAAHI agree! :)mahapatra commented on Put GDDR5 (in GPU)memory in XPS,Inspiron laptops!mahapatrahttps://www.salesforce.com/00a7000000G0zExAAJIt seems everyone want a powerful graphics card in xps 15! It will not happen unless they (DELL) stop promoting only AW for gaming!!kgh00007 commented on Put GDDR5 (in GPU)memory in XPS,Inspiron laptops!kgh00007https://www.salesforce.com/00a7000000G0xRzAAJI agree, I would like to see the GT640M with GDDR5 in the next XPS 15, I don't want any compromises!layman commented on Put GDDR5 (in GPU)memory in XPS,Inspiron laptops!laymanhttps://www.salesforce.com/00a7000000G0LQOAA3I also second thatWin7Dev commented on Put GDDR5 (in GPU)memory in XPS,Inspiron laptops!Win7Devhttps://www.salesforce.com/00a7000000G0EfKAAV100% agree with you. It seems dell is trying to make us pay for the look of a gaming laptop by cheaping out on the XPS line. Also think about all the people who want to be able to take their powerful laptop to a business meeting. I'm definitely not taking an alienware there, no matter how fast it is because they are so unprofessional looking.

On a side note, I think that the GT 640m should be installed into the XPS line with GDDR5 memory because XPS is meant to be the more powerful series for multimedia. Video work isn't going to work on a GDDR3 graphics card today as video editing becomes more gpu based and requires very high memory bandwidth.

The XPS line needs the GT 640m w/GDDR5 memory, the GT 650m w/GDDR5 memory, and the GTX 660m w/GDDR5 memory if dell is even going to keep it as a performance line. Otherwise, it should be relabled as a general laptop for home use, not a performance laptop.

The only difference between the XPS and Inspiron lines are that the XPS line has better options for dedicated graphics and better speakers and screen. If you aren't going to put good graphics in them, just get rid of them and call them inspirons. mahapatra commented on Put GDDR5 (in GPU)memory in XPS,Inspiron laptops!mahapatrahttps://www.salesforce.com/00a7000000G08omAABPromote this idea if you want a powerful XPS or Inspiron laptop!
