I trust only Dell PC's not Alienware. My loyalty is to Dell.

This point was emphasised when my Alienware PC had to go back 3 times (giving up on the third time). They did not connect lights, loose screws, CPU fan errors, faulty RAM etc... In essence Alienware quality control is not on par with Dell. What's worse is that Alienware technical help told me to reset the bios by pressing the button on the motherboard - guess what - the computer no longer booted up at all! The raid configuration was no longer detected. Laughable really - but not at the time.

To me Dell no longer sell gaming PC's which has pushed me to build my own again.

I use my PC for website design i.e. business - how can I trust a PC from a manufacter that allows such shoddy testing?

So my point is ... Alienware seem to be a separate company and put tremendous strain on my loyalty to not only Alienware but has rubbed off on Dell.

They should be all under one brand not a brand that is convenient to be dropped should it not work out. Is Dell afraid of taking in Alienware as a Dell brand or is there another reason?

Hope this provides an alternative perspective.

Dan.
kcobley commented on Merge Alienware & Dellkcobleyhttps://www.salesforce.com/00a70000004MsdxAACYes either the XPS line should go or Alienware should go, trying to turn the computer business into the auto business is absurd, after all the auto business is on the steep downslide what's the difference between a Chevy and a Pontiac! The auto business did that to give the illusion of a competitive maket when it was just a tight oligopoly. Probably better to turn Alienware into Dell's gaming division and iron out all the problems such as Quality control, service, finance and peripherals. Alienware's system of ouside peripherals is a good idea, I tend to use Logitec keyboards and mice! Also Alienware tends to use more modern motherboards and memory, and this is where Dell is a little behind!
Having 2 major competing brands (both owned by the same operator) means that your economy of scale in design, marketing, service and distribution is being lost!goomoo commented on Merge Alienware & Dellgoomoohttps://www.salesforce.com/00a70000004Ms16AACUntil Alienware's quality, service and support are on par with Dell's, this is a horrible idea. If you every actually purchased an Alienware, you'd know they are teh suck. There are much better products, that actually work, and aren't even considered gaming, made by other companies, including Dell itself.vozome commented on Merge Alienware & Dellvozomehttps://www.salesforce.com/00a70000004MrTaAAKI don't agree with either. I think alienware and dell go after 2 different markets. alienware probably deserves more visibility, though.jordann commented on Merge Alienware & Delljordannhttps://www.salesforce.com/00a70000004MrLoAAKDell would be better off simply dropping the gaming division, and redirecting those customers to Alienware.
