I can't tell you how many times I have left the house and left the iron, oven, curling iron, or even my parent’s faulty clothing dryer on. You have to turn all the way around and go home or find someone who will break into your house to do it for you. I think that some kind of software developed that links from your home to your computer (at work or where ever) and your cell phone that would enable you to shut off certain outlets in your home would be a life saver. Imagine you are driving to the airport, and you realize that you THINK you left the iron on. Just open your cell phone, call your house, and punch in the appropriate code and the outlets power is cut. Or you open up your laptop log onto the dell site...it pulls up the outline of your home, you click the outlet that the unit is plugged into, and it shuts off. This would not only be ground breaking technology but would also save lives. You could even go as far as to add a garage door shutter as an upgrade, or shut off lights.... turn down/up the air... the possibilities are endless. Just a thought! 8 Comments »

Time saving web service. Dell Bill Assistant

Hello, I am twenty three and have just been pushed into the real world in January, by that, I mean I have graduated college and started my career. I live on my on and for the first time I really can't rely on Mom and Dad anymore to keep me organized. My idea would help me tremendously.

Here it is.

Today most people do their entire bill paying online. When I pay my bills, I like to go to the actual site and see what I am paying for, rather than have my bank automatically pay for it, or paying for some program out of he box( if one exist). I also like to print the confirmation page so I have a record I my payment. I have several bills that I pay online. Water, electric, phone, credit cards, student loans, tag renewals, etc. You can imagine forgetting one a time or two. Also it can be a hassle with all those login names and passwords you have and have to remember.

That brings me to my idea.

Dell should develop an online service where I can keep track, and pay my bills all on one site. This would be unlike setting it up with a bank where they just schedule a payment time and automatically deduct it from your account. This would act more like an assistant to paying your bills.

For Example, let’s say I need to pay rent for my apartment.

I would log-in to my Dell Bill Assistant account (just thought of the name). Select where I have set up assistance for my Apartment. Clicking that automatically logs me in to the bill page because I have already set it up that way. Also it would open my page where I would normally pay my bill, but it would open inside the Dell Bill Assistant site. (Kind of think of the Dell Assistant as another web browser inside your actual web browser. From there I would pay my bill.

When the site gives me a conformation page, Dell Bill Assistant will have an option for me to save that information in a secure area within my profile.

A couple of key points:

You would be able to use Dell Bill Assistant as a passkey to all your bill paying sites.

You will be able to list all you bills you have and set up when they are due on a calendar interface.

You will have an organized area of all your receipts/conformation pages where you can go back and access any time you want.

Finally what I think would make this a home run would be the settings. I believe everybody has their own way of doing things. By that I mean some people would have no problem with a bill paying program automating every thing from start to finish. But conversely some people (like me) want to do it them themselves. Settings would ensure that everybody is happy. If you want the program to keep track of all your bills, but you would rather type your username/password in on the other sites yourself, you can. If you want the program to do everything you can. There would multiple settings to tailor the program to your likeness

The idea is to save time and be more organized, without losing any facilitation of your own money.

In Closing, my idea would be free for users. The reason I believe this is because this site could rival the popular social networking sites in the amount of users it will have. Everybody has bills. Dell would make their money through ads and such. Hopefully they would do it tastefully so not to anger the users.

IT WOULD BE GREAT TO BE ABLE TO TVIO YOUR LIFE. THE CELL PHONE ALLOWS YOU TO USE A CALENDAR TO SET APPOINTMENTS AND REMINDERS. YOU HOLD YOUR LIFE IN THE PALM OF YOUR HAND. Dell needs to be ready for the O-LED technology. Work with Microsoft to have the most compatible Drivers and Software for touch-screens made from O-LED's. By the time Windows 7 comes out, O-LED's will be cheep enough for everyone to use them as wallpaper, then you could have your computer screen on all the walls of your house! If Dell and Microsoft partner and work together, Windows 7 will be the best Operating System to Run your O-LED wallpaper on. Just think, you could take your finger, draw a square on the wall, and choose if you want it to be a digital window or a Television! If you want google the is a space for google search and msn searches. It has the the lastes news on the page and the weather. on the side it has all the logins to the e-mails and myspace and facebook. so its basically everything you need on one page instead of typing in different urls. Minimize foreclosures

I'm in the beginning stages of creating a real estate software that will minimize bad real estate purchase deals. This application will be housed on a pc tablet with a retractable keyboard and swivel monitor that will allow for an electronic signature with a stylus. The security of the data will be done through the buyers SS# which when entered will automatically encrypt the numbers except for the last 3-4 digits. This process will minimize the forging of signatures and the fudging of numbers in order to make the buyer qualify. This also will move us to a more paperless environment. 8 Comments »

What it can actually do is record your voice onto the computer screen and can allow for corrections as well as typing for the individual. This is more like voice texting but on the computer.

Young International Proud Parents

I heard on the Steve Harvey Morning Show that Dell is looking for new innovative ideas much like the logic behind such successes as Myspace and Facebook. I believe there needs to be a website specifically catered to a network of international young parents. Some of these young people need guidance in parenting. The ages of this free membership would range from 13 years old to 25 years old.

Whether its spiritual or practical advice, experts in parenting should be available to respond to emails or be present in chat rooms about certain topics.

There would be groups for the YIPPY's (Young International Proud Parents) to join, as well as ones they could formulate themselves. For example, Single Fathers, Single Mothers, Married Parents, High School Parents, Parents of Twins, Parents with One Child, Parents with Over 3 Children. Parents of Kids with Disabilities, Parents in school, Working Parents, Parents Disowned by Their Families, even Rape Victims forced into parenthood.

By having this outlet designed for this demographic, young people may find that they're not alone in their struggles. There will also be an opportunity for volunteers to log on and give advice under designated usernames so that members know that they are a credible source.

Plenty of advertisement opportunities are available as well, from Magazines, baby products, learning games, and clothing stores. Young celebrity parents such as Jamie Lynn Spears, Solange Knowles, could sponsor this site as well.

Please consider this idea seriously and contact me if this idea sounds as good to you as it does to me. There is currently a www.yppo.com but it is very basic and visually unappealing to the target audience.

The disclaimer here is that teenage and unwed pregnancies should not be encouraged in any way, but yet and still they are ever-present in today's society. Therefore, we should prepare this generation and equip them with the tools necessary to raise healthy, smart and well rounded children.

greeting cards site with afrocentric themes

I love making greeting cards but I can not find enough pictures with afrocentric themes. That is why I believe it would be a great idea for Dell to create a website for card making that contains afrocentric as well as other characters from various minority groups. Because none exists as far as I know. Today is mine and my husband's 18th wedding anniversary and when I made a card for him I could not find any respectable afrocentric characters or themes.

Webspace for the Up and Ups

Recent developers have created myspace and other web spaces that allow others to of like interest to interact. Myspace Music was phase two of that development and allowed artist to interact with each other as well, as good of an idea tht this was, it's too general to work. It's become more of a joke than actual production. It would be an innovative idea to create a webspace that primarily targets entreprenuers representing many different industries. Ofcourse that primary form of income for this project will oome from advertisement, maybe there can be a way that the advertisors can have a direct link encoded in the advertisment to their human resources division for qualified persons. It's an idea of combining myspace and careerbuilder to make a more beneficial product. Myspace gives a great and creative platform to showcase many talkents, but many times those talents are only seen by others in the same situation. This idea could revolutionize the recruiting process for many companies from corporate to entertainment. The Advertising Clients will be able to basically test the product without having to contact the person, destroying unwanted hassle. Think about it. Comment »

Allow MediaDirect button to be re-assigned

If a customer chooses to uninstall Dell MediaDirect, provide a separate configuration application which can re-assign the MediaDirect button to launch another program (eg iTunes).

This is possible by editing the registry so presumably a simple program could easily be written and included.

Perhaps this feature could be incorporated into QuickSet? Comment »

Dell Dock

The new Dell Dock software should be downloadable (free of charge) under the drivers section of the Dell Support site for all Dell computers.

Whether it should only be factory-installed on the Studio line or not is another matter.

I don't know about anyone else but i think that the new "Dell Dock" that comes with the new Studio 15 and Studio 17 laptops would make it look like a mac. The "Dell Dock" should be an option if you want it installed. Also if you don't want your desktop cluttered with icons move them to the quick launch or something not to a dock. 5 Comments »

CUDA on DELL

GPU programming is increasingly important in the field of computing. From physics in games (PhysX) to curing cancer (Folding@Home), these calculations are enhanced considerably when using the GPU. Dell fortunately offers top of the line GPUs on their systems, but unfortunately they do not provide up to date drivers capable of developing and running CUDA applications. I would appreciate it if Dell would provide up to date drivers on their site since they disallow the latest drivers to be installed from Nvidia's site.

Best to worst compromise
1) Allow nvidia's driver's to be installed
2) Allow nvidia's driver's to be installed after a warning message
3) Put newewst nvidia drivers on dell support site under "beta"
4) Do nothing, so I have to install the drivers with a modified INF file.

CUDA is the future, but Dell isn't ready for it.
