small LCD panels at a reasonable cost Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Desktops, Monitors and Displays, New Product Ideas, Servers and Storage, Small Business, XPS products, Vostro products, Precision Workstations, OptiPlex products submitted by undead999 2 days ago
I dont really need 2 monitors attached to my system full time, nor do i have desk space. A small LCD that is 10 or 12 inches could be usefull as a secondary monitor for keeping status of my server(s), game server while i'm gaming, monitoring email up, system perfromance and so on. While not being used as a secondary display it could act as a stand alone photo frame, maybe even have a wall mount. please make it available Dell Dock for Window XP user Desktops, Dimension products, Latitude products, Operating Systems, Software, XPS products, Vostro products, OptiPlex products, Desktops and Laptops, Laptops submitted by helmecj01 2 days ago please make it available Dell Dock for Windows XP user 2 Comments » Get Splashtop available on most if not all computers. Desktops, Linux submitted by he_the_great Jun 12 Splashtop is an integrated Linux desktop that lets you instantly boot your computer into an environment to browse the web and other tasks. I don't see any reason not to have it everywhere. 1 Comment » Add removeable drive trays to system configuration Desktops, Dimension products, New Product Ideas, Small Business, Vostro products, Desktops and Laptops submitted by silver 2 days ago I have two kids which combine with the requisite digital still and video cameras and digital audio to make for a whole lot of data to backup. To make life a little easier and less frustrating I've installed drive trays and secondary drives in all of our systems. To make a backup I simply turn the computer off, turn the keyswitch on, reboot, make my backup with Acronis True Image, shut down the system, turn off the drive and finally reboot the computer. This is so much faster and more dependable than USB drives. 5 Comments » Bring back Nvidia cards to the Ubuntu Desktop Desktops, Gaming, Linux submitted by akincer Jun 27 The Ubuntu Inspiron only uses integrated Intel graphics. From experience, I can tell you that for gaming, this is completely unacceptable. Bring back Nvidia cards as an option. Without it, the system is not acceptable for purchase. 11 Comments » Desktops submitted by class2008 05/25/07 Dell should begin producing all 64 bit pc's. WIth rumors of Windows Vista being the last OS available in 32 bit, they should get consumers ready with 64 bit pc's, at reasonable prices. 50 Comments » More Choice of Graphic cards on (Home & Home Office) Laptops and Desktops. Desktops, Gaming, Inspiron products submitted by fahdriyami Feb 3 Sometimes when looking for a reasonablly priced notebook or desktop i would go for the Inspiron range, and im a gamer, when customizing my pc i just wonder why is there only one or two choices of graphic cards?!, most of them support the same bus type, so why not offer them?! eg, the best Inspiron notebook you offer only comes with a GeForce 8600M GT, can you just offer an 8700M with it at least? i know you did it for a reason and its probably a good one but im just curious...thinking of it, an Inspiron with an 8800M sounds ok :D 3 Comments » make a desktop that actually fits on a desk... Desktops, Sales Strategies submitted by bjizle Jun 30 Dell regular desktop is very big and ugly.if you ever opened one you would know that all of the space inside the shell is not used. and lets face it how things look and how big it is is key to getting it sold and if dell put a lil more effort in designing a better looking desktop and take that big one off the line they would get a lot more sold. because dells are real good computers... 5 Comments » Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Desktops, Monitors and Displays submitted by reg 08/07/07 **COMING SOON**

Instead of providing restore discs, driver/utilities packages and all the other clutter that comes with a new computer - many of which require license keys or passwords that are easily lost or forgotten - why can't users be supplied with a simple combined USB flash drive and security dongle? This would do away with a pile of CDs that generally just end up being lost or scratched in the bottom of a drawer and cut down on lots of time consuming web trawling to deal with relatively minor problems. Sell more desktops without monitors, keyboards, etc Desktops, Environment, Sales Strategies submitted by gordonbrown77 02/16/07 **COMING SOON** Make it an option to not get things people may already have when upgrading a PC such as monitors, mouse, keyboard. This would be good environmentally and save people some money if they already have theae things and will not be keeping the old PC. 33 Comments » Desktops, Monitors and Displays submitted by inczo757 Jun 30 I think it would be cool to have the monitor integrated into the side of the Desktop Tower. There is alot of surface area here and it should be easy enough to incorporate a thin LED or LCD screen into the side of the tower you remove when doing updates. Im using a Dell Pecision 690 and that could easily have a 24" monitor in its side. 8 Comments » Desktops submitted by jerbl 02/17/07
I suggest that Dell design and sell a true mini-sized desktop CPU. Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Desktops, Linux submitted by pawprintz 02/17/07 **REVIEWED**
How about a fast, Internet ready Linux desktop. Small form factor, pretty monitor, mouse & keyboard, the O.S., OpenOffice & Firefox. Cheap'n'fast No OEM Junk software, revival of recovery DVD/CD's NOT partitions Desktops, Software submitted by mgin2k3 05/20/07 **UNDER REVIEW**
First, I hate it when I buy a computer and right when I turn it on out of the box, it's got a lot of junk software installed (AOL trial, Nortion Anti-Virus trial, etc). Get rid of these trial and non-trial OEM softwares or at least give the customer the option of not having them installed. I end up wasting so much time trying to uninstall all this junk anyways and I'm sure I'm not alone. I like having a clean install when I get a new computer (or when I'm recovering). And by clean I mean Windows (or whatever other OS the user may enjoy) and NOTHING else. Secondary OEM software can be included on a separate disc for the user to select manual installation (or request preinstallation of for new purchase orders). Video-input on the XPS One & XPS Notebooks Desktops, Monitors and Displays, XPS products submitted by smotchberry Jan 30
I propose that Dell should be one of the first companies to incorporate a video-input feature onto their high-end laptops and all in ones. Desktops, Simplify IT submitted by s43 07/04/07 I have a dell xps 410. I need a desktop computer, because no notebook has the power to do things like a desktop computer. If my desktop were to fail, and I had to replace it, currently with dell, I would have to wait 6 days before an uncustomized pc even left the warehouse. If I need a computer, I want to have it in less than a week. I think dell should try to do something to decrease build times, like maybe have popular configurations pre-built so that a new desktop could be shipped the same day its ordered. That way, I wouldn't have to wait for a week to get up and running again. 25 Comments » Free updates of Dell Ubuntu versions Desktops, Linux submitted by mkmaster78 10/23/07 **REVIEWED**
I know, of course, that Ubuntu is free (both free as in freedom and free as in beer), however, Dell is making their own customized versions of Ubuntu. I haven't really found any reference to this, but is Dell going to release their version for free to those who already have an older version of Dell's Ubuntu, and maybe to those who just want it, as a free upgrade? If not, this is the idea: Release the update for free so people can have the supported distribution of Ubuntu for their supported Dell's (and maybe others.) I can't believe Dell missed the opportunity to have the worlds first wall mounted all in one home media entertainment PC. That's what the XPS One could have been. But it's not. It's not wall mountable and it's not 40". |
