Options for better GAMING graphic cards on the 15" inspirons for the gamers Gaming, Inspiron products submitted by thejedimaster 04/24/07 Not everyone who wants to do gaming needs a 17" screen. And I understand the need to have the best on the big laptops, but why can't a 15" inspiron user have an option besides the x1400 card? Maybe an X1800 or X1900?..I'm talking about the E1505 and E1501... Comment » Offer A Free Downgrade From Vista To XP Operating Systems submitted by huper 04/24/07
I for one have had it with Windows Vista. I find this software so full of bugs that I am spending more time transferring log files to Microsoft than getting actual work done. They are certainly not paying me for my time to repair their flaky software! When I got my Dimension E520 it came loaded with a 2.8Ghz Duo Dual Core Intel Processor, 2GB of RAM, 256MB on an NVIDIA card & 2 - 250GB hard drives. Surely this system would be powerful & I could focus on writing & getting work done quickly. But no, the slow speed of this operating system taxes the hard drives & CPU so they are regularly running at 75% & 89%. I have tried changing the swap file to use a different drive, removed non essential services as well as swapping out memory from one slot to another. I have used every OS both client & server since DOS 1.0 & this is by far the worst! (Except maybe BOB or ME). Dell wants to give users an upgrade to Windows Vista within a certain time frame. How about offering a downgrade to XP for people who don't want Vista? Otherwise I will be checking into which Linux version will best run on this hardware. Pre-Install Bonzi Buddy on all new systems! Software, Desktops and Laptops submitted by captainsensible 04/25/07
It's not about what the user wants, it's about profit! If you don't upgrade Bonzi within 30 days he gets really sad and begs you hourly for money. And each feature costs an additional fee, and if you don't get it, Bonzi starts to get angry and delete your emails and randomly disconnects you from the internet! But the profits would be amazing. Liquidate the company and distribute the funds to the shareholders. Sound like familiar advice by one Michael Dell to Steve Jobs in 1998? Stop overcharging for upgrades (memory, hdd, etc. ) Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Sales Strategies, Laptops submitted by uklathemock 02/17/07 Almost everyone I know buys the smallest harddrive and the lowest amount of memory for their Dell notebook, and then upgrades later. Why make your customers turn to other sources to buy memory and hard drives? I think quite a few e-tailers were created and have flourished because everyone (Dell, HP, Apple, etc.) overcharges for upgrades. 17 Comments » Environment submitted by adrian 02/01/07 **REVIEWED**
Environmental concern and sustainability are today real issues with consumers and voters in many of Dell's markets. It looks as if a genuine commitment to reducing carbon and cleaning up their footprint will become a more important factor for companies wanting to strengthen consumer loyalty in the coming years. Remove metallic Windows sticker Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Laptops submitted by bastos 02/21/07
The unremovable metallic "Vista capable" or "Designed for XP" sticker serves no purpose as soon as the laptop is in use by the end-user. Dell should design its notebooks to be sleek, stylish and simple -- and a permanent stickers is the exact opposite. This is (in part) why Apple sells the most stylish laptops, and why the one you buy is never as nice as the one you see in the promotional-pictures (no stickers!) Linux Hardware Compatibility List Dell Web Site, Linux submitted by s3indiana 02/20/07 **IN PROGRESS**
Create a listing of Dell hardware that's compatible with the major Linux distributions (Fedora, OpenSuse, ubuntu, Freespire) providing compatibility with not just systems (desktops and laptops) but include peripherals (printers, camera's, flash drives, compatible routers, etc.). Include levels of compatibility so the reviewer can make an educated choice. This would provide the greatest assistance for those looking at alternatives... Operating Systems submitted by javaprog07 02/17/07 **IMPLEMENTED**
Ok, well I know I may be chastised for bringing this up, but vista is still a young operating system with its own problems etc... I would like to see both Home and Business computers, especially notebooks have an XP Home and Pro option on top of Vista until it has at least been out for a year. For those seasoned users like me who just feel that you need to let a new OS mature before jumping right in. I am planning on buying a new notebook, and I would like to insure I wont have to format it on arrival just to have XP. Silent / Quiet Computers: Sound levels in decibels Desktops and Laptops submitted by pchris 02/17/07 **REVIEWED**
I'd like Dell to provide the sound level in decibels for each of their desktops, under max load as well as at idle. Linux, Desktops and Laptops submitted by chiuchu 02/19/07
Hello, Have Firefox pre-installed as default browser Software submitted by robinjfisher 02/19/07 **REVIEWED**
Does what it says on the tin! Most people only use IE because they aren't aware of other browsers - they think Internet Explorer is the Internet! What would really drive take up of alternative browsers is if Firefox was pre-installed as the default browser so that when people look for the "Internet" in Windows, they are using FF.
