My brothers XPS M1530 arrived today fitted with a WSXGA+ screen and its horrible and grainy. I didn't get a chance to see weather its fitted with the Samsung or LG screen. Make Intel Virtualization Technology (VT) enabled by default or allow user to enable Linux, XPS products submitted by shinypup Jan 23
So I get my new M1530 and setup VMWare Workstation 6.0.2. When I try to install Windows (I use Linux) VMWare reports VT is disabled and I should enable it in the BIOS. Low and behold the BIOS lacks the option to enable VT (in the M1530 model specifically, some people report other models do allow you to enable it). UPDATE the Graphics Card of XPS 1530 Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), XPS products submitted by bryan14c 12/22/07 Hp had an update of their 8600gs graphics card and still DELL has a 256mb 8600gt , why not upgrade it to 512mb plus using DDR3 and still even though there is a 256mb option at least it will be DDR3 in it, well DELL must update the XPS 1530 with a 8600gt 512mb DDR3 graphics Card 7 Comments » XPS products submitted by bryan14c Jan 11

XPS products submitted by hoodedthing 12/06/07
What about Gigabit ethernet...? It's really not new technology, and it's pretty dissappointing not to see it in the m1530. It wouldn't be that hard to implement now.. Just start sticking gigabit ethernet ports in the laptops instead of 10/100. Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Desktops and Laptops submitted by neogamerdrew 02/19/07 When maintaining or upgrading a Dell, it is a shear nightmare to try and replace parts. Most things are not the standard ATX parts you would expect. I suggest that Dell move away from proprietary parts, and open the door for people to use after market parts. 28 Comments » Operating Systems submitted by javaprog07 02/17/07 **IMPLEMENTED**
Ok, well I know I may be chastised for bringing this up, but vista is still a young operating system with its own problems etc... I would like to see both Home and Business computers, especially notebooks have an XP Home and Pro option on top of Vista until it has at least been out for a year. For those seasoned users like me who just feel that you need to let a new OS mature before jumping right in. I am planning on buying a new notebook, and I would like to insure I wont have to format it on arrival just to have XP. Put a physical bluetooth switch on laptops Broadband and Mobility, Laptops submitted by badblood 10/30/07 So you can easily switch it on and off and see that it's on or off.... 18 Comments » Dell: Support Open BIOSes for Linux Dell, Linux submitted by phubert 10/10/07 **REVIEWED**
An Open BIOS for Linux would free it from the DOS legacy code and speed boot times. better video card for the rumored XPS M1530 Gaming, XPS products submitted by nicolas.velasquez 10/10/07
I've seen the rumored specs of the new XPS M1530 coming on November 7. This laptop is aimed partially/mostly people that works with 3d, video or gamers. If the specs are as follows: Tell us what WiFi chipset a laptop has. Broadband and Mobility, Dell Web Site, Linux, Laptops submitted by tonyb2006 08/29/07 **UNDER REVIEW**
Tell us the WiFi chipset used in a laptop before we buy it so we know if the WiFi chipset supports a feature we want, or if it supports Linux or another operating system that we intend to use. The WiFi chipset being like "Intel ipw2200" or "Broadcom BCM4306", or "Ralink rt2500". Make a calendar with all COMING SOON and IN PROGRESS ideas Advertising and Marketing, IdeaStorm submitted by krasmussen 09/22/07 **REVIEWED**
One of the biggest annoyances with IdeaStorm is that the horizon for an idea being implemented is very blurry, if at all existing. If you're lucky, you get "third quarter 2009", but mostly, there is no timeframe at all. This leads to the feeling that not much is being done, and exactly that feeling is what IdeaStorm should be eliminating. Stop Overcharging on Notebook RAM Sales Strategies, Laptops submitted by realskript 08/28/07 **UNDER REVIEW**
Dell really... REALLY need to stop overcharging... and when i say overcharing... i mean atleast double what you would pay to pick up the ram yourself. Make **all** choices available **anywhere** in the world Sales Strategies submitted by mrw 09/16/07
First example: The Germans are second class customers, because they don't get the same choices for Ubuntu Laptops as in the USA. We here in Switzerland are even third class customers, because we do not get an Ubuntu Laptop at all. Make XP/Linux drivers available for all model even if only Vista is pre-installed Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Linux, Operating Systems submitted by vineets001 09/24/07 **REVIEWED**
There are good hardware models coming out. And only Vista is pre-install option. If people want to wipe off Vista and install XP or Linux, let them do that. Make a commitment to have the drivers available. Provide a option for a 1000mb NIC on all notebooks and desktops. Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Desktops and Laptops submitted by joshuacl 07/30/07 It would be nice if gig-Ethernet was avaliable on all PCs especially the XPS line considering its geared towards gaming. 8 Comments » track my votes
