New desktop keyboards

New Product Ideas submitted by gamer128 Yesterday

Apple has this keyboard that is the slimmest that I've ever seen. It would be nice if Dell made a keyboard that looked like Apple's. 15 Comments »

Have all options for all configs

submitted by mathew_rankin 3 days ago

I've notice if you chose a system starting at $999 you get different options then the one at $1499. You may get a larger HD such as 320GB on $999 but for the 1499 the option starts at 320 goes up to 640GB Why? If someone wants to get a lower end graphics card at 999 but get a huge HD they should be able to do so....

Offer all options on all configs.... Comment »

XPS Laptops

Dell, Gaming, New Product Ideas, XPS products, Laptops submitted by gamer128 2 days ago

I think this is the one question that most mobile gamers want to know. Will Dell make a laptop like the M1530 that is a gaming laptop? I don't mean like high end, just a laptop that can do well with most PC games out there. Think...imagine if Dell could partner up with NVIDIA to make a graphics card that is powerful to handle...like Crysis! And that when that graphics card gets old, or the motherboard, you could just get an upgrade just like the desktops. 13 Comments »

SAVE PAPER - Include Whole Project Gutenberg 20,000 free books on all new Dells

Environment, Education submitted by reg 06/06/07 **NOT NOW**

PROJECT GUTENBERG: 20,000 BOOKS *TOTALLY* FREE - AS TEXT FILES

By including Project Gutenberg's whole collection of ASCII books on every new Dell,Millions of kilograms of paper will NOT be used to actually print those books -
you can just read it on the screen, or have the computer's voice read the book to you.

For added educational benefit, include the past 5 years of Project Censored topics too:

Project Censored.

Project Censored covers the news that no one else has been willing - or allowed - to talk about.

All the books could be placed in a single Directory - full of alphabetically sorted by author directories. If you want to read - just click down to the author of your choice and open one of their book files. If you want your hard drive space back, click the top directory: BOOKS - and delete it. All space returned.

Protect the Environment, and save some trees while learning !

Another benefit of books without the paper, in a Dell laptop:
It is easier to carry 20,000 book files in your backpack,
than actually carrying 20,000 books on your back! OUCH!

Thank you.

Vostro laptop design changes

Desktops and Laptops submitted by grey_newt Jul 4

The Vostro laptop needs some design improvements....

1. The 4 USB ports are on the side towards the front - I use them all so I have cables coming out of both sides and they both look ugly and get in te way. I'll need to buy a USB hub now. Place at least two at the back.

2. USB ports are close together. Many memory sticks are promotioal items - so they are fatter than necessary - which means that you cannot plug in two next to each othe. just make the ports wider apart.

3. The audio controls do not have a mute button - so Fn+delete has to be used - you have the space on the panel - add a mute facility

4. The lid closes flat and there is absolutely no way to open it with one hand. There is no recess in the lid, so you have to get your nail under the lid and somehow hold the body down at th same time - I couldn't believe this when I saw it - such a bad design fault

5. The keyboard is springy and needs to be thumped for the keys to register. My old Inspiron keyboard was perfect - receptive and on a hard surface - this feels like it is sitting on foam as it bends as I type.

This is the worst laptop design I have ever come across... 1 Comment »

This idea is simple. Beside each vote, show how many demoted and how many promoted...

Example:

This will give us a better understanding of how many like the idea dn how many dont. Sure a long list of names can tell us, but its nice to have an official number 3 Comments »

click to start

Healthcare submitted by bswanson Jun 30

Dell should make a small device that would be housed in the lower part of the seat belt device. when clicking the seat belt together the device would act as a kill switch allowing the car to start when the key is turned. Without the two together the key turn alone will not start the engine. The safety belt has to be worn and in place before starting the car. The lower part of the belt would be hard wired to the computer under the rug sending a signal to the computer that the driver is safley secured in the seat. This device would only be for the driver side seat. This idea is synonymous to the keys with chips that was designed for security. This idea is designed for safety of all those on the road. It does not have to stop with cars, but can be implemented to construction vehicles, private planes, buses, semi's, etc.... it would not take much for dell to partner with automakers to make this product and save lives. 4 Comments »

One Stop Gas Pumps

New Product Ideas submitted by sharyce Jun 30

My idea is to invent a gas pump that can take cash. Much like a vending machine. Also I would love to implement features that allow people using this pump to access bank account information and pay that way as well. Ultimately, this will be more efficient to the person buying the gas, as not everyone has a debit/credit card. Will also be beneficial to these companies as they can minimize the need for the gas attendants. 3 Comments »

make a desktop that actually fits on a desk...

Desktops, Sales Strategies submitted by bjizle Jun 30

Dell regular desktop is very big and ugly.if you ever opened one you would know that all of the space inside the shell is not used. and lets face it how things look and how big it is is key to getting it sold and if dell put a lil more effort in designing a better looking desktop and take that big one off the line they would get a lot more sold. because dells are real good computers... 5 Comments »

Laptop/TV

Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Laptops submitted by ninobrownpbs Jun 30

Why not have a TV you can use as a laptop as well. The device would look like a laptop but have a screen on the top of the device and one on the inside of the device opposite from the top screen. With the device closed you have a LCD TV but when you open it up its another laptop. This way this device is portable. Must have a protecting cover for the top screen. This device should still be able to play DVDs and CDs also IPOD and MP3 hookups. The TV portion should come in LCD or plasma, 720p or 1080p or if not have a TV on the top then maybe a digital picture frame. This could also be used in cars, strapped to the back of car seats. 2 Comments »

Music player On laptop

Software, Laptops submitted by kailer Jun 6

i was thinking of plugging a in bedded mp3 player in it,maybe 1gb or 2 gb flash memory (better if more can be place in it)
the power to run the music player will run from it own recharge battery instead of the laptop battery because it might spoil the battery....
It will be great if the player can be removed but if the player is lost , it will be ugly for the laptop... and for music lover laptop battery will sure last as the battery can be recharge tgt with the laptopbattery( ipod are like this)
and i wanted to implement this using flash disk because i understand that pro long moving of hard disk will damage it so i used a flash disk instead of the harddisk

dell can make it own remote control for the music player ,something like other songs remote. forward and backward and changing of songs

the flash drive that the mp3 use might be bigger as you can store your backup inside too incase anythings goes wrong with ur hard disk 6 Comments »

Dell List Computer Configuration Options in order not random.

Dell Community, Dell Web Site submitted by jorge 06/25/07 **UNDER REVIEW**

Dell list computer configuration options in an ordered list not random!

When configuring a computer a list of options for lets say the processor should be in order based on speed or price, here's an example from the Dell Precision M65:

O Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T5600 (1.83GHz/667MHz) Dual Core [add $37.35]
O Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T7600 (2.33GHz/667MHz) Dual Core [add $398.40]
O Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T7400 (2.16GHz/667MHz) Dual Core [add $207.50]
O Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T7200 (2.00GHz/667MHz) Dual Core [add $103.75]
* Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T5500 (1.66GHz/667Mhz) [Included in Price]

Whats up with this list? Totally confusing or leads to confusion, for the average Joe, yet again today I had to explain that Dell just lists things randomly not in some optimal way.

The list should read like this (or in reverse but in order):

* Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T5500 (1.66GHz/667Mhz) [Included in Price]
O Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T5600 (1.83GHz/667MHz) Dual Core [add $37.35]
O Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T7200 (2.00GHz/667MHz) Dual Core [add $103.75]
O Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T7400 (2.16GHz/667MHz) Dual Core [add $207.50]
O Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T7600 (2.33GHz/667MHz) Dual Core [add $398.40]

Make it so and quite confusing your customers!
