Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Desktops, Gaming submitted by shirk 05/19/07 Stop offering quad core CPU, SLI graphic cards, and terabyte hard drive systems that are limited to older low speed memory. Customers who purchase these higher end systems want their components to be up to date and cutting edge, so drop the ancient 533-667 mhz memory. Also stop crippling motherboards so that they wont support higher speed memory so customers are stuck without a choice. Give customers current memory, 800 mhz and up, for their brand new systems. 2 Comments » No discounts, just low prices! (consumer products) Sales Strategies submitted by mistern 05/19/07

Plenty of people spend a LOT of time shopping around on Dell's site for a great deal. They trust the brand and haven't the time or interest to build there own PC so when they see a good deal they try and buy that new Dell PC with as few options as they can manage. Environmental Laptop Based on Solar Energy/Hydrogen Fuel Cell Environment, Laptop Power submitted by gchakra 02/17/07 **UNDER REVIEW**
What's smart for the environment is smart for Dell. Dell should build units that are degradable or can be easily recycled. Sure, its going to be a little more expensive, but it will be a smart product. It will use a lot less energy. The laptops could have a solar panel or be powered by a hydrogen fuel cell. The first microelectronic implementation of a fuel cell will give Dell a tremendous marketing boost. It will be incredibly popular with kids in college. (X1600, nc8300,) 2707WFP, E1505 - What the heck is all that? Interchangable battery, DVD, HDD, or FDD in the same slot. Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Laptop Power submitted by chewd 05/18/07
Have a look at the old compaq LTE series of laptops. They had a battery in the back, and on either side a slot about the size of a slimline optical drive in which you could put either a slimline drive, a floppy drive, a hard drive, or (with a special adapter) another battery. Compare the touch and feel of a MacBook to that of an Inspiron. It doesn't compare. The Inspiron isn't as stylish, and has a cheap plasticky feel. The MacBooks are solid, sturdy, and, if you have a MacBook PRO, made of metal. Environment, Sales Strategies submitted by dhari 05/19/07 Even the high end laptop or printer of dell comes in an ugly brown carton without any mention of what is inside! Compare it with any other laptop in market, all others have colorful packs. Is it for cutting the cost? The customer should feel that he is buying a valued product, and it should show how it is delivered and presented. 11 Comments » Team up with Tascam for laptop music studio. Ruggardized Military Grade Tablet PC Sales Strategies, Desktops and Laptops submitted by pkarlos_76 05/19/07 In the field I work I see multiple possibilities of use of a ruggardized military grade Tablet PC. While we can purchase this specialized companies, these companies are limited to slow outdated updates of the product that we would see 5 to 6 years ago. They have a weak research and development levels for the most part due to limited cash flow. I would like to see Dell offer both semi ruggardized version of the tablet pc and fully ruggardized military grade tablet pc's. 2 Comments » Laptops submitted by badblood 05/19/07
Produce a Laptop where everything can be upgraded. Asus is doing it - and here it is: Offer hybrid hard drives for better Vista performance Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Operating Systems submitted by dnorton 05/18/07 The ReadyBoost feature of Vista uses flash memory to dramatically improve performance. You can do this via a USB key, but hybrid hard drives with a flash memory cache on them are a better way to do it, and don't use up a USB port. 4 Comments » Gaming, XPS products submitted by dell_admin1 04/25/07
Participate in the product design process! Dell is using IdeaStorm to decide between two new product design concepts. Vote on your favorite and weigh in to tell us what you think. When we unveiled the XPS 710 H2C at CES this year, we also uncovered it. There were a limited number of systems sprinkled throughout the show floor that had a clear side panel allowing easy viewing of the patent-pending two-stage H2C liquid cooling system. Since then, more than a few people have suggested we offer a “panel with a view” as an option for our XPS 710 line. Now we need you to vote for one of these two options and, most importantly, share some reasons why you like it. This “Now You Choose” vote campaign will be open from Wednesday, April 25 to Friday, May 11. The design that gets the most votes will be featured in a future generation of XPS gaming desktops. 37 Comments »Dell should sue its greatest enemy -- Death to "http://www.ihatedell.net"! Dell submitted by winoffice 05/12/07 That web site is offensive and almost certainly is illegal, and unfairly damages Dell's reputation. In fact, I am sure that most of us here at Ideastorm love Dell just for creating Dell Ideastorm! If Dell would sue ihatedell, then things would surely be better for all of us Dell fans. 11 Comments » Desktops and Laptops submitted by mwmtjm 01/30/07 **UNDER REVIEW**
Do away with 512MB of memory as a base option to buy consumer desktops and notebooks. With Vista running best on 1GB at a minimum, don't make customers have a basic experience with the new OS because Dell wants to be able to advertise at a lower price point. The success of Vista -- and subsequently for Dell -- will be largely in word of mouth. Take a long-term view and build the momentum one great customer experience at a time right now! I have a XP Pro retail copy, will soon buy retail vista, I also like Linux: Make WINDOWS-FREE, and OS-Free an option for more than just expensive business lines. Operating Systems submitted by javaprog07 02/17/07 **IMPLEMENTED**
Ok, well I know I may be chastised for bringing this up, but vista is still a young operating system with its own problems etc... I would like to see both Home and Business computers, especially notebooks have an XP Home and Pro option on top of Vista until it has at least been out for a year. For those seasoned users like me who just feel that you need to let a new OS mature before jumping right in. I am planning on buying a new notebook, and I would like to insure I wont have to format it on arrival just to have XP. Software submitted by winoffice 05/01/07 **IMPLEMENTED**
Always include ALL software AND driver reinstallation discs for FREE (or at let us get the option do get the for free if we want as follows)...don't make us pay extra in case that we have a disaster and need to reinstall from scratch...! track my votes
