well watch this video to see how dell's XPS 1330 and 1530 Glossy Color in red and scratch test very nice Gorgeous. i hope Dell would implement this design of Glossy Color just watch how vibrant the red color on Glossy finish imagine the blue, black , white, etc color option, if this would be implemented as an option Now to the XPS 1530 and 1330, Dell staff , administrator have you implemented this idea? i hope you could implement this!!! NOW!!!
@ this time its not finish it seems to have bubbles but the finish product is so shinny and well protected from scratches
it seems to be bubbly and not smooth because the process is not finish you will have to remove the excess air and water but overall it will be a glossy finish and well protected from scratch 15 Comments »
The display on the laptops that are currently sold by Dell (and its competitors) pose a problem for individuals with a certain type of vision problem. They are highly reflective making the screen contents extremely difficult to view. The surface is mirror-like. I don't want to see my reflection. I want to be able to view the screen. Please bring back a matte option on laptop displays. 8 Comments »
Dell should make a 14.1" model of the XPS 1210. It should have a better graphics card (around the the 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 7900 GS range). The Glossy 1440x900 display and the camera that rotates 180 degrees are also important. 8 Comments »
The current XPS 710 case is nice, but the glossy black H2C case adds a lot of class. Make this other version or the new concept case available across the line rather than just on the one high end configuration. 1 Comment »
Please add the OPTION of a matte screen to the new Studio 15 and Studio 17 laptops -- preferably to all of the available resolution and backlight versions. Glossy displays are a deal-breaker for me. 4 Comments »

Glare and reflection from high glare screens, screen frames, and notebook computers is annoying and distract from function and use.
In stores, this may be a marketing ploy. Consumers may not fully understand the problem of glare. Online sellers like Dell should inform buyers when shopping whether the screen and case are "glare" or "nonglare."
When "nonglare" was introduced to television, shoppers considered it an advantage worthy of extra expense. In the art world, nonglare glass is considered worthy of extra expense.
How did we ever get glossy screens?
Dell should offer customers a choice between "glare" and "nonglare." 226 Comments »
Provide an option for TrueLife glossy LCD desktop displays. As far as I know, glossy displays are only available on notebooks and the only thing keeping me from buying the 24 inch desktop display is the antiglare filter instead of a glossy filter. 4 Comments »
The only display options showing today (10/26/07) for the 1420 and 1520 notebooks are all glossy screens. ARGH!
I want to buy an XPS M1330, but the glossy screen is a deal breaker for me. Then I was looking at the Inspiron 1420 because it had an antiglare screen available. Now the antiglare option is gone from the website.
I'd like Dell to provide the sound level in decibels for each of their desktops, under max load as well as at idle.
How a manufacturer can produce an expensive computer, and then have the user acoustic experience of that computer dominated by the noise generated by a cheap fan worth just pennies, for the entire lifetime of that computer, is incomprehensible. Computers are noisy when brand new, but those cheap fans begin to rub and oscillate and make additional annoying noises, frequently within a short period of time of purchase.
Personally, the peace and quiet of my personal workspace is very important to me, it's my sanctuary from the world where I can focus and be creative. To have that experience disrupted by cheap fans is sad, especially when slightly more expensive fans and some reasonable design would solve the issue. Another reason why I consider buying an Apple.
If the cost of a better sound design and fans is significant, it could be an extra cost option. In general, Dell provides noise data of its products in the Environmental Datasheets. Tests are conducted according to ISO standards in a NVLAP accredited acoustics facility. Click here for more details
Not so long ago, nearly all Dell laptops had media bays (nearly all of the inspiron, latitude, and precision models). Expandability is one of the reason I come back to Dell again and again. Instead of having to purchase a new laptop to add a blu-ray (or whatever comes next) drive, I simply purchase the media bay device. Similarly, no matter how good battery life becomes, a single battery will NEVER be able to last as long as 2 batteries. 2 will always be more than 1. (rumor has it the e-series won't have a media bay battery, this would be very unfortunate!) 5 Comments »
Why cant Dell make good looking notebooks like that of HP, Vaio and ibook??? The Dell designs have always been very bland.... nothing to brag about including the XPS designs... The design team in HP had a huge makeover, their new looks all metal finish Chassis are so nice to feel... very much like the Iphone... Metal is in now.... HP has made huge strides. Dell seriously needs to rethink it's designs, the XPS 1330 is a good one from the stable,,, why not throw a competition to the designers and offer a prize for the best design selected... 8 Comments »
Here I am typing away on my desktop and getting very tired of moving my hand from the keyboard to the mouse, from the mouse to the keyboard, blah, blah, blah, blaaaaah.
It would be nice if you could add a nipple or track point thingy to desktop keyboards. Much more convenient....
Also - since this is such an annoying defect and makes Dell laptops look almost laughable when they wobble in a business meeting; please send extra rubber feet to any of your existing customers who send you a self-addressed stamped envelope asking for some. 3 Comments »
Cell phones, PDA's, Automotive GPS units have them. The time has come that at least a one of your notebooks should have them as an option.
With the near ubiquity of Wifi in metropolitan areas as well as in many park areas...
Not to mention 3G and CDMA EVDO wireless celluar broadband...
The places where a notebook can be used and stay connected to the net or VPN are near limitless.
Business lunch done al fresco. Lunch on the lawn of central park while writing. Sitting out on your deck while watching the markets. Whatever one uses their computer for, it can now be done in the open air.*
Example of Dell's ATG Latitude w transreflective screen versus an IBM w/o
* notebooks should not be used at the beach due to salt air corrosion. They should also not be used in rainy conditions. And certainly shouldn't be used while lounge wading in a pool or Jacuzzi. 11 Comments »
Why can't you integrate a mouse style scroll wheel between the mouse integrated buttons on a laptop?
Functionality should include: - scrolling - side tilt - middle mouse button
I just can't get used to useing the touchpad. Dedicated touch pads like on the Logitech diNovo Edge, would be okay, but I would like to see a scroll wheel option. 15 Comments »
I can't find a PC notebook I would use even though I am ready to switch back to PC's from Macs now that Vista has closed the gap with OS X.
The IBM Thinkpad used to be the default notebook for business professionals like me, but with Lenovo making them now, I am hesitant to use it. And yet, no one else is making a laptop that feels anything as good to replace them.
So, Dell, please step up and takeover - make something that has the same quality and feell as the old Thinkpads. (your current laptops are too plasticky and outdated looking).
It's a great opportunity no PC maker is capitalizing on. There's demand without any supply. A high end business laptop line could be more profitable and would help lift the image of all Dell products. And this is a product / segment that is very much at the core of Dell, something Dell should focus on first in its turnaround. 1 Comment »
Trackpads are terrible, they lack accuracy, they get in the way, you are always accidentally touching them, they seem to have minds of their own. I for one really hate track pads. I've put up a couple of ideas to replace them with thumbsticks and mini joy sticks, while others offered ideas for little mouses that pop out of the side of the computer. But there's no joy there and they've all been voted down.
So there you have it, we need an alternative to the trackpad and the trackstick, thumbstick, trackball and all other varients won't fly.
Idea: Dell please invest millions of dollars and your best people to develop an innovative alternative to the terrible trackpad.
First example: The Germans are second class customers, because they don't get the same choices for Ubuntu Laptops as in the USA. We here in Switzerland are even third class customers, because we do not get an Ubuntu Laptop at all.
Other example: The choices I can make for a notebook depends on how I walked through your shop! Sometimes for the same Model, I can chose a low end Harddisk, sometimes not. That's absolutely ridiculous! Please allow any possible hardware combination!
Allow to select any matching hard disk in any laptop (or desktop)! Allow to setup any kind of memory, especially e.g. one(!) 2GB module instead of two 1GB modules, give the choice for between either a mirroring display or an anti-glare display for any available display size and resolution. If technically possible, allow to choose between NVidia and ATI, and allow to chose the Memory of the card. Allow to completely deselect the operating system and all kind of installed software.
First: Make all offers available anywhere in the world!
Second: Do not limit the possible combinations!
Shouldn't the customer be king? Let us all choices! 34 Comments »
