I would like to see computers have some new technology added like Fingerprint scanners. Stolen computers are an issue and adding this will create a better level of security. The only downside I can see would be if one person sold the computer to another and didnt reset the scanner.
Still, I would like to see this and I am sure others would too.

No McAfee

I think everyone agrees here. No McAfee. i cant unistall my copy because it will take all my settings for the Microsoft firewall with it. That includes my outlook settings, internet, and just about every program. Why cant i say "no McAfee please"??? is it really that hard? use Norton....

15" laptop full featured laptop with tablet capability

15" Displays are typical for notebooks now, but the biggest convertible tablet is 14".
I know the all the arguments "too big to carry on your arm" etc.....
There are plenty of purpose built tablets for tablet applications, and students who frequently attend lectures and vertical markets do need special devices, but most people I know what a laptop 1st and tablet capabilites are only welcome if the laptop is NOT compromised as a laptop.
How I, and the people i mix with, use a tablet is to take notes in meetings in situations where using a laptop in conventional manner is not appropriate. This is less than 5% of my laptop usage, but is worth paying a premium for if the laptop is not compromised the other 95% of the time.
So DON'T shrink the screen to make it more portable, that would compromise 96% of usage. And DO make it full featured, as i suggest those who do mind paying extra for this feature also are prepared to pay for other features and wont buy a stripped down model. Personally I would seek 1600x1060 as an approximate minimum screen resolution.

The XPS and E series notebooks are great, but a move into making 12.1 and 14.1 inch tablet PC convertible notebooks would be fantastic. I can easily see the m1210 and the e1405 being ported to the tablet medium.

Silent / Quiet Computers: Sound levels in decibels

I'd like Dell to provide the sound level in decibels for each of their desktops, under max load as well as at idle.
How a manufacturer can produce an expensive computer, and then have the user acoustic experience of that computer dominated by the noise generated by a cheap fan worth just pennies, for the entire lifetime of that computer, is incomprehensible. Computers are noisy when brand new, but those cheap fans begin to rub and oscillate and make additional annoying noises, frequently within a short period of time of purchase.
Personally, the peace and quiet of my personal workspace is very important to me, it's my sanctuary from the world where I can focus and be creative. To have that experience disrupted by cheap fans is sad, especially when slightly more expensive fans and some reasonable design would solve the issue. Another reason why I consider buying an Apple.
If the cost of a better sound design and fans is significant, it could be an extra cost option.
In general, Dell provides noise data of its products in the Environmental Datasheets. Tests are conducted according to ISO standards in a NVLAP accredited acoustics facility. Click here for more details

Provide Linux Drivers for all your Hardware

I don't care whether the OS is pre-installed or not, I want all the hardware to be totally supported in the Linux kernel without in mucking around. I currently have a Dell M1210 and I wish the modem would work, just in case I need it. The web cam would work, just in case I need it. At least the Intel wireless card is totally supported. Thanks Intel!!

Does what it says on the tin! Most people only use IE because they aren't aware of other browsers - they think Internet Explorer is the Internet! What would really drive take up of alternative browsers is if Firefox was pre-installed as the default browser so that when people look for the "Internet" in Windows, they are using FF.
Firefox advocates at Dell have initiated discussions and driven action around exploring alternative internet browsers and experiences. As you can tell from our response to the Linux community, open source continues to be a part of our conversations about new products and services.

Start selling computers directly in Israel to

Hello Dell.
I live in Israel. In Israel, you do not sell your computers directly. In fact, you do not sell at all to the private sector (The Dimension models are not being sold at all).
The private, consumer sector buys a lot of computers (desktops). Almost every Israeli family owns a modern computer, many of them owns more than one. Bbut practically _all_ of them are not brand names.
Computer are being sold here only by small shops who by parts and install them by themselves.
I think that there is very good potential for you if you start selling in Israel.
I am not a business man. I am a private consumer, and I wish I could have bought a Dell Dimension desktop directly from Dell for a fair price instead the no name I have here, which is definitely not as good as a Dell (it's PSU was burned out within a week after buying it. Its container is crappy, it generates a lot of noise, etc').
I wanted to write about this subject a long time ago, but haven't do that because the answer I received from Dell in Israel (the local branch) caused me to believe you don't want to listen.
Now you have this IdeaStorm site, so I am writing. Another motivation was what was published here yesterday: HP is going to start selling to the consumer market.
I afraid that they know somethings Dell doesn't.
I can give you more highlights from an end user perspective. I have no financial or business interest here.
