OLEDs are much more effieient, brighter, offer higher contrast ratio's AND are much smaller. for example, SONY is currently developing a 27" HD TV with OLED technology. It has a contrast ratio of 1 million to 1, and has a response time of 0.01 MILLISECONDS. Samsung is making an 80" HD TV that is less than 2cm thick. There IS a computer monitor 19" thats only 2.1mm thick. With that kind of tech, you could make a laptop a lot thinner. OLEDs are also much more energy efficient efficient, and can save up to 30% more energy than an LCD of the same size. You can also BEND OLED monitors, because the screen is like a film. MythTV HD Entertainment center Broadband and Mobility, Linux, Monitors and Displays submitted by slcoleman 02/23/07 I want a small compact machine that looks like a video component with HD compatible options (e.g. Dual Layer DVD,HD-DVD ,Blue ray ,etc), a huge disk volume, selection of trestrial broadcast and cable tuners, remote control, and network interface for legally downloaded video (eg. Wallmart, Amazon, BlockBuster, etc). This should come with MythTV preinstalled and be ready to go out of the box, but allow for automatic software updates as new equipment or features become available. The Linux OS itself can be minimal 4 Comments » Monitors and Displays, Laptops submitted by mike2912 09/14/07 I would like to see more of the laptops and even desktop screens utilise the LED sisplays. The colors are richer and they consume a lot less power. The XPS 1330 is excellent so why not spread the technology to the rest of the products. 1 Comment » Dell Add the following Monitor Feature, Picture in Picture, especially in the 30" Widescreens. So I got to test out a 30" Dell DFP and its great! So could it be made it better? Well if you could have one of the additional inputs (VGA/DVI/S-Video or other) be allowed to pop in as a Picture in Picture movable screen. This would allow for the additionally connected computer to be seen at the same time as the main computer. The PIP (picture in picture) screen could be controlled through a remote or on the screen buttons and can be turned on and off on command. I foresee even having multiple inputs and multiple PIP screens on such a large Monitor. Yes there are video cards and splitters that can do this but why not incorporate it into a stand alone Dell wide screen monitor. Sales Strategies submitted by built2last67 04/21/07
I went back and forth with purchasing a 2707WFP and a 3007WFP Flat Screen monitor. I finally chose a 2707WFP, only because the 2707 had components such as S Video, Component Video. I really wanted the 30 inch but it had no connections. The 27 inch has .303 pixel pitch, 3007 .255. Boy a .255 pixel pitch with all component hook ups would have been nice. The .303 is very hazy sometimes with fonts. Sales Strategies submitted by liquidfire 02/23/07 Offer price protection on your products at least 30 days. Dell can argue that computer systems change so fast that the product is never the same but for items like monitors and printers...come on... I was told to return the product, pay a restocking fee, buy the new product and save less than the restocking fee. This just doens't make sense. Comment » Difficult to buy product in Thailand Sales Strategies, Desktops and Laptops submitted by noqqqq 02/17/07 I want to see 27 or 30 inch LCD monitor in Thailand. But it is so difficult. There is no actual unit to see at store or conference. So difficult to place order because of shipping cost, tax, no way to check LCD dead/stuck pixels, etc. No sales office in Thailand. You know it's growing, Safari use is increasing. Capture a foothold in the Mac market. 30" monitor with video inputs (3007WFP version 2.0) Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Monitors and Displays submitted by brandon 02/23/07 Please make a 30 inch monitor that has more inputs than just dvi and vga. A big monitor like that could be used to watch tv, play video game consoles, and watch hd-dvd's. The 3007WFP should have composite, s-video, component, and hdmi connections and be hdcp compatible. This monitor is a high end investment and with all the added value from these connections, more people would be willing to purchase it. Also, I think some of your other monitors have these connections so why can't the biggest monitor have them too? Comment » Monitors and Displays submitted by mcfazeli 07/11/07
The next round of upgrades to the high-end Dell display line should bring in LED backlighting and 120 HZ true refresh rate if possible. Not only would this enhance the contrast and colour reproduction of the screen (assuming you still aim for the 92% NTSC gamut like the 3007 HC model), but it would be more energy efficient, and natively support the 24 fps media like Blu-ray and HD DVD. The default page should be Recent Ideas and not Popular Ideas. People are seeing these ideas first and are getting these ridiculous points that no other idea is going to get, just for the fact that they are the first ones everyone sees. Allow More Customization for Users Who Want It Sales Strategies submitted by wdlaurie 03/01/07 For serious users who want more options, such as customizable cases, lit keyboards, more options for the number of hard drives, more graphic card choices, etc, Dell should offer more user customization choices when ordering. 2 Comments » Offer Pencil-Eraser-Pointers Again! Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Sales Strategies submitted by nicu 03/01/07 I like the good old pencil-eraser-pointers in addition to the touch pad. Not everyone likes them so have those and the touch pads. When I use a laptop for gaming the pencil-eraser-pointer is much easier for me to use. 3 Comments » Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Desktops and Laptops submitted by jhein007 03/01/07
Create a computer that could fit into the cars dash board where a car stereo would go. Give it a built in GPS and map program, USB ports, DVD player, AM/FM/XM tuner, 80GB hard drive and a touch screen interface. Put it on a wireless lan with maybe a PCMCIA card for a verizon wireless card. Slap in a mean cooling system and you have a lean map reading, mp3 playing, dvd streaming machine. track my votes
