Strap to clip directly to notebook

Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Laptops submitted by crgillies 06/11/07

So many carry around laptops - why not a simple strap (in various colors/themes) that clips into the security lock holes either side of the laptop. This strap could be adjustable and make it easy to carry a laptop over your shoulder, between meetings, without having to lug a bag around. Simple and cheap way to carry a laptop.. 2 Comments »

I always wanted a DELL Lunchbox!

Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Desktops, New Product Ideas submitted by l-roy 06/11/07

For some people (me included), mostly freelancers it is uninevitable to switch
from offices from time to time. So especially Highend 3d developers etc.
would be glad to have fullsize desktop components/Cards and Screens but
built into a transportable case but not paying 10k like most common rugged pc companies want us to.

I love DELL screens - just keep the good quality!

Monitors and Displays submitted by l-roy 06/11/07

I just wanted to say "thumbs up!" for the great monitors. I hope that DELL
keeps the quality above all others. (which won't be too hard when you look at the Apple Cinema displays ;) 2 Comments »

Ditch the Windows keys

Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Linux submitted by johnnyk 06/11/07

Dell's Ubuntu PCs ship with the Windows logo on the super key.

I've been waiting months for these Ubuntu PCs to become available and just recently spend $1000 on one. The last thing I want to see is the mark of the beast.

Ship all Ubuntu PCs with Linux-friendly super keys (the Ubuntu logo, Tux, or even just a blank key - anything but the Windows logo) and provide replacement keys for anyone who already bought an Ubuntu PC. 26 Comments »

Sell ink cartridges at local retail

Printers and Ink, Sales Strategies submitted by guardianxps 02/21/07 **IMPLEMENTED**

So, for convenience and ease of access, can Dell sell ink cartridges through local retail stores? I realize Dell is an online store; and not suggesting you stop the online part, but also make it available through retail stores. Considering weather or other natural occurrences, and the latest discomfort from DHL leaving the ink cartridges on the door just to be stolen gets annoying.

We now sell ink cartridges at Staples. Click here for more details

Replace the Windows key with the Dell key

Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Advertising and Marketing submitted by mistern 06/11/07

There've been all these ideas that Dell should get rid of the Windows key. BAH! Criticists...

You should replace the Windows key with a key with the Dell logo. This is more advertisement for you and more satisfaction to fanatics.

Now if this isn't a good deal! 6 Comments »

Replace the Keyboard's Windows key with the Easy Key

Accessories (Keyboards, etc.) submitted by jorge 06/11/07

Dell replace the hated and useless windows key with the Easy Key which is what all your complaining, nagging, whinning customers want even if they can't verbalize it.

Its red color will aid in tech support helping users identify the easy key and it will make all users feel good when pressing it, there will be some technical issues in jamming it in place but it will be well worth it. 9 Comments »

Save energy: Beep when your battery is full

Environment, Laptops, Laptop Power submitted by pkchen 06/11/07

I know a lot of people who when charging their laptops, leave the laptop plugged in even after the battery is fully recharged. This definitely wastes a lot of power!

Maybe Dell could build in an alert system (a kind beep every 30 minutes maybe?) to remind the user that their battery is full and they can unplug their notebook from the wall socket.

I know that Nokia is going to be building in this same functionality into some of their cell phones ... check the press release: http://www.nokia.com/A4136001?newsid=1125979"Nokia has launched the first mobile phones to include alerts encouraging people to unplug the charger once the battery is full, a move that could save enough electricity to power 85,000 homes a year."

Think of all the power we could save with just a simple beep! :)

Dell preinstall Google Indexing service

Software submitted by mistern 06/11/07

Dell should pre-install the Google Desktop search services, for three reasons:

  1. They are just the best (indexing service).

  2. Google pays good money.
  3. Google software is no crapware, it's quality work.

Dell true mini-sized desktop

Desktops submitted by jerbl 02/17/07

I suggest that Dell design and sell a true mini-sized desktop CPU.
It would be similiar in size, weight and power to the Apple Mac Mini, but with Windows software.
Customers who buy a LCD or Plasma TV also prefer a CPU with a small footprint. 34 Comments »

Customer Bill of Rights

Service and Support submitted by badblood 06/12/07

Above all else, Dell should be dedicated to bringing excellent customer service, products and support. Dell needs to strive to make every part of the customer experience as simple, effective and as pleasant as possible. Unfortunately, there are times when things do not go as planned or as expected. If customers are inconvenienced as a result, it is important that they know exactly what they can expect from Dell. That's why you need a Customer Bill of Rights, which outlines Dell's commitments to its customers. 6 Comments »

Feet Lifts

Laptops submitted by dragonfly1627 06/12/07

You know how notebooks get really hot while either sitting them on your lap or on a table. Well why don't they come out with optional feet or lifts on the bottom of the notebook like keyboards do. They can flip up or down and when in the up postion they would be flush againts the computers base. 30 Comments »

Give Microsoft Support in fight over the OpenSource Fiasco

Advertising and Marketing, Dell, Sales Strategies submitted by jorge 06/12/07

Helping Microsoft fight the battle against the rebel OpenSource conglomerate will align Dell with Microsoft letting Dell sell computers with Vista for free or free-er than FreeDOS and Ubuntu! Making computers cheaper for customers! A win-win for Dell!

This will also give Dell the funds to bring in SkyNet! 21 Comments »

Case Design

Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Desktops submitted by mherberii 06/12/07

I work in IT and I deal almost exclusively with Dell products. While they are good machines, the fact that the newer desktops are backwards (they open on the right side, instead of the left) is a source of constant irritation, and has caused me to have to rearrange my entire work area to accomodate it. I think it would save those of us who work on Dell computers a lot of frustration and heavy lifting if things could go back to the way they used to be. 1 Comment »

Cheap marketing alternative

Is the creation of this site just merely a cheap advertising gimmick where there is a corporate agenda which will only work on community approved posts? 3 Comments »

Same discounts available on Ubuntu and Windows

Linux, Operating Systems, Sales Strategies submitted by jonsmirl 06/12/07 **PARTIALLY IMPLEMENTED**

I'm ordering a Vista XPS 410 right now. I wanted a Ubuntu one but I'm going to throw away yet another copy of Windows. The Vista XPS 410 has $200 off today and free ship for a total of $869. The identical Ubuntu machine is $1019 plus $29.99 shipping. So today Ubuntu costs $170 more than Windows instead of $50 less. Why can't I have the same discounts on the Ubuntu machine? 50 Comments »
