Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Laptops submitted by toyota_supra Feb 18
I think it would make sense for Dell to sell laptops with a hybrid storage system, using 8, 16 or 32 GB SSD to store the OS and most commonly used software (MS Office or other) and using standard HD to store other data, like music, videos, movies, pictures, etc. Partner with Micron to create a RAM module style SSD New Product Ideas, Servers and Storage submitted by jervis961 12/07/07
Solid State Memory = System; HDD = user data Laptops submitted by andepiel45 04/29/07
I think that there are two options for splitting OS from user data: SSD + Regular HD for Faster Start-up/Shutdown Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Servers and Storage, Desktops and Laptops submitted by ptcase 07/26/07 I think that Dell should have a SSD + HD linked so that the computer can take advantage of faster read times when system resources are generally at the highest (startup). After everything has loaded and the system tray has loaded everything then, the regular HD would take over because most people don't need lightning fast SSD read/write speed. I thought of this because Alienware has announced for an option of raided SSD drives ( 2 * 32 GB) for $900.00. What a joke. This way the common user can take advantage of the now available 32 GB SSD and the platter style HD on the market. 1 Comment » Servers and Storage, XPS products submitted by uniqueness 09/24/07 Dell should definitly update the 1330 to allow dual SSD in a raid configuration. For those of us who want a power laptop, dual SSD with the other 1330 specs are what we need. 3 Comments » Do not scale back build-to-order systems Desktops and Laptops submitted by masterr Apr 5 **ALREADY OFFERED**
Today in the news I read that Dell "is moving away from its build-to-order model to reduce costs. Dell is limiting the degree to which buyers can dictate specifications while expanding its line of prepackaged models". Please do not do this. The options build-to-order system is what sets Dell above some of the competition. By scaling this back and removing customization choices you remove some of the appeal of buying a Dell machine online. Please do not scale this back. Give XPS Notebooks Gigabit Ethernet XPS products submitted by croftki Feb 17 I understand that Dell market research says home users in general are not interested in gigabit ethernet for home networks. Those who pay for the premium design in the XPS line, however, are more likely to want gigabit ethernet. I would rather buy something more exciting than a business class notebook, but I want to build on my home technology with each purchase I make. XPS Notebooks unfortunately do not help me do this. It seems my only option is to buy a Latitude. 28 Comments » Software submitted by ootleman 02/16/07 **PARTIALLY IMPLEMENTED**
Would love the ability to have a clean Vista install. No AOL software, no earthlink software, no google software - just a clean, original OS. Avoid Glare On Screens and Notebook Frames Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Sales Strategies, Laptops submitted by bobetsue 02/20/07
Glare and reflection from high glare screens, screen frames, and notebook computers is annoying and distract from function and use. Stop Overcharging on Notebook RAM Sales Strategies, Laptops submitted by realskript 08/28/07 **UNDER REVIEW**
Dell really... REALLY need to stop overcharging... and when i say overcharing... i mean atleast double what you would pay to pick up the ram yourself. track my votes
