Numeric Keypad on 17" laptop models

Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Laptops submitted by benjesuit 03/01/07

HP, ACER, and Toshiba have keyboards with numeric keypads on the 17" laptop models. That would be nice to have on an Inspiron/Latitude instead of the 2" of wasted space on both side of the keyboard. 4 Comments »

Numeric Keypad on Notebooks

Laptops submitted by tpjoseph 02/21/07

Since notebooks are larger and have plenty of unused space below the keyboard and to the right of the touchpad, can we make a few models with a numeric keypad?

There are probably a HUGE number of engineers, accountants, analysts that would be FAR better served by this addition. The top row of number is nowhere near as efficient as a numeric keypad.

As soon as this feature becomes available, send me an email and I will buy my next Dell notebook.

Thanks. 1 Comment »

Numeric Keypad on 17" Laptops

Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Laptops submitted by z_darius 02/20/07

HP, Acer, Toshiba and a bunch of others offer it. HP has even an option of dual HDD. 17" laptops have quite a bit of space inside to pack a lot of goodies.

Most people looking for desktop replacement with the mobility option need the full keyboard. What's the holdup at Dell? 10 Comments »

Numeric Keypad on laptops

It should be perfectly easy to have a separate numeric keypad on the 17" (or bigger) laptops. Comment »

New Dell Retail Store! Death to Mall Kiosks!

Advertising and Marketing, Sales Strategies submitted by evilspell 02/16/07

Dell should open a retail store very similar to the Apple store. I know that they have small kiosks inside malls that they try to sell Plasma TV's and a couple laptops next to a guy selling knock off sunglasses and verizon cell phone sales sharks! Very unprofessional. Open a classy Dell Store and offer Tech support right in the store just like the Genius Bar in the Apple Store. 144 Comments »

Product enhancement for Dell power adapter

Laptop Power submitted by gbrugman 02/21/07

For your information: daily winding and unwinding the notebook connecting cord, will eventually cause the cable shield and isolation to tear down, just outside the housing. It happened to many Dell notebook cords at work, causing the power flow to stop or, even worse, to short-circuit.

The cord at the other end of the AC wall mount doesn't have this problem because this cord already points at the right angle. So as to avoid said problem in the future, both cords should leave the housing in the proper winding-angle: problem solved.

I hope to have been of help, because I think it's a shame that a minor cord problem makes it this risky to work with an otherwise good product. It seems easy enough to remedy. :-) 39 Comments »

PRODUCT (RED)

Advertising and Marketing, Desktops and Laptops submitted by smotchberry 02/17/07 **IMPLEMENTED**

Dell should join the product (red) initiative - launching the first (red) desktop or laptop could go a long way in giving Dell a better social reputation than the seemingly horrible (perhaps somewhar unwarranted) one it's products seem to project now.

Launching a special edition XPS notebook might be a great start - but I don't see why it couldn't be transfered down the line to it's other products, such as the television or montior range, so existing (and non) Dell customers could take the plunge without feeling left out.
Check out the Idea in Action to find out how Dell is partnering with (PRODUCT) RED.

Make It Happen!

Service and Support, Desktops and Laptops submitted by goodthings2life 02/18/07

First of all, I want to add my support to the growing idea of "no crapware" setups. All I want is some awesome Dell Hardware bundled with an Operating System and a Drivers CD. That's it. No AOL, No Earthlink, No Adobe Acrobat from 3 years ago, etc etc. OS and Drivers. Period.

Second, I agree about bringing support staff back to America. There's a saying that you get what you pay for, and just because it's cheaper to outsource doesn't make it better.

Third, I agree about increasing the base RAM spec to 1GB... 512MB barely cuts it on XP, nevermind Vista.

Fourth, please please please start selling TabletPC models. Offer various display options with them... some with Intel graphics, some with Nvidia and/or ATI... some with widescreen, some without.

Thanks for listening!

17" notebook design

Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Laptops submitted by narbeh 02/17/07

There is a huge unused space between the keyboards of 17" notebooks of dell and their side edges, so i think it's better to have a numeric keypad with the keyboard. 1 Comment »
