Purchasing Incentives: Getting returns on your Dell purchases

Dell Community, Dell Web Site, Sales Strategies submitted by cosmichellion 11/13/07

Dell, I would like to suggest that you offer a monetary credit for purchasing Dell product. Not that I have any exact numbers to offer up but here is just an idea...

Lets just say, you offer home users $5.00 credit for every $100.00 spent on your products or software and peripherals. When we log into our accounts, we would be able to see how much credit we've earned and then apply it towards whatever purchase we see fit on the website.

As a loyal Dell customer, I've spent thousands of dollars on pc's and accessories. I see this type of incentive as something that would keep people coming back. Computer technology quickly becomes outdated and most of us need to upgrade on components. If this was an option, you could see it as investing in any future upgrades when you buy from Dell now. 1 Comment »

Advertise Graphics RAM correctly

Advertising and Marketing submitted by joffe100 04/20/07 **UNDER REVIEW**

When we say we want to buy a 512Mb graphics card we really do want a 512Mb graphics card - not 512Mb with 256mb physical memory with 256mb shared! This is really BAD and misleading advertising - you do not see other RAM memory being sold 1Gb (512Mb physical, 512Mb shared!)

Should read: 512Mb physical memory and it actually be 512Mb physical memory

NOT: 512Mb** and then some tiny asterixed disclaimer on a linked page that points out that the 512Mb is some funky combination of 3Mb physical and the rest being pulled from virtual memory - this kills many graphic intense apps and games...

suprised no-one has sued over this? Not sure many buyers are even aware....

Optional Name Engrave for Notebooks

Laptops submitted by darklordboyajian14 04/01/07

Dell should provide an option to engrave your name on a notebook. Sony provides this service for free. It personalizes the notebook and it looks attractive and professional. You could also engrave your companies name or your position. It would be great for business computers or just for everyone in general. 5 Comments »

Expandable Graphic card for notebooks

Gaming, Laptops submitted by mav3r1k 04/02/07

Why not sell compatible graphic card for notebooks?
I mean, make a certain notebook can have installed two or three models of MXM graphic card, say which ones are compatible with that slot and sell them, so I can upgrade my dell notebook later with a new graphic card. 1 Comment »

increase Graphics Card choice on notebooks

Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Laptops submitted by chanux 02/21/07

Now that notebooks become the favourite buyer's choice, i think it should be possible to have a greater choice on which graphics card we want.

Some technology like MXM or AXIOM or others should allow to have a large number of combination between notebook and graphics card model.

(that's the reason why my last notebook is not a dell)

An open solution to categorization

IdeaStorm submitted by cosh 05/08/07

This was originally posted on May 8. Lots of people were saying IdeaStorm was cluttered, and that spam and duplicates were appearing, that we needed better categories and a search engine that returns better results, and that it was taking too long to get bug fixes and improvements.

I built a new system, a mirror of every idea on the site, to try and sort it out myself, and to demonstrate to Dell that when everybody is complaining, improvements should happen in days, not months.

It has a better search engine than IdeaStorm, and the ability to browse ideas based on the Dell-assigned tags. As well as demonstrating good potential features for IdeaStorm, it should prove useful as it is.

The link:» » New IdeaStorm Categorizer « «

Initially I was trying to get people to help sort the ideas into categories, but I'm considering adding a robot to sort the rest of them out automatically. Thanks very much to people who helped categorize ideas!

15.4 size XPS system

XPS products, Laptops submitted by lilredfoxie 02/16/07 **IMPLEMENTED**

I think theyre needs to be another 15.4" size XPS system, currently the XPS lineup has no middle ground, theres either the m1210 which is too small, or the m1710 which is too large ( I dont count the m2010, since its not really a laptop, its more of its own hybrid desktop/laptop comptuer thing) use the e1505 chassis, give it the cool XPS lights, and a D-dock connectior below
Check out the Idea in Action post for details about our new 15in system.

I bought a D620 a fews weeks ago. I thought I was getting a dedicated 256 card. The website was v misleading. Only 64 is dedicated and the rest comes from sys RAM.

Please, please stop this and offer a proper soln.

14 inch tablet with decent spec would also be nice.

Dell Bonus Points

Service and Support submitted by ndavis 02/22/07

I think it would be great to earn points everytime you buy something from Dell...whether it be a system or service. The points could be used to purchase more dell product or products from their partner programs. Maybe they could join up with their partner programs to have one points program. It seems like points programs are great motivators to buy. It just gives people one more reason. Comment »
