All 64 Bit PC's

Desktops submitted by class2008 05/25/07

Dell should begin producing all 64 bit pc's. WIth rumors of Windows Vista being the last OS available in 32 bit, they should get consumers ready with 64 bit pc's, at reasonable prices. 50 Comments »

Webcam with Nightvision

Accessories (Keyboards, etc.) submitted by baurth Jun 9

I wish Dell's Webcams had some sort of nightvision. This way, my remote-surveillance-software would also work by night and give me clear pictures (of intruders etc). 2 Comments »

Dell Media Direct Vertical Scroll bar.

Software submitted by natakuc4 Jun 6

Its a small thing but for dell media direct when using it to listen to music it takes a while to press down to get to a song near the bottom particularly with 4000 songs. I suggest adding in a vertical scroll bar for the listening to music option in dell media direct making it easier to locate music.

A radio switch to turn on graphic card,or shut it off.... and depend on intergrated graphics

Laptops submitted by kailer Jun 6

My laptop graphic card is eating up alot of my energy, that is what i realize.so it will be great if we can turn off the graphic card while we are not gaming but turn it on if we need it....
because if i am doing work using laptop using the graphic card without running on power source...i cant finish my work in such a short time.i might as well turn off my graphic card because Microsoft word doesn't need great graphic to work on it......
it be great for those who wants a gaming laptop while the laptop can last long too when you are not gaming... 3 Comments »

Music player On laptop

Software, Laptops submitted by kailer Jun 6

i was thinking of plugging a in bedded mp3 player in it,maybe 1gb or 2 gb flash memory (better if more can be place in it)
the power to run the music player will run from it own recharge battery instead of the laptop battery because it might spoil the battery....
It will be great if the player can be removed but if the player is lost , it will be ugly for the laptop... and for music lover laptop battery will sure last as the battery can be recharge tgt with the laptopbattery( ipod are like this)
and i wanted to implement this using flash disk because i understand that pro long moving of hard disk will damage it so i used a flash disk instead of the harddisk

dell can make it own remote control for the music player ,something like other songs remote. forward and backward and changing of songs

the flash drive that the mp3 use might be bigger as you can store your backup inside too incase anythings goes wrong with ur hard disk 6 Comments »

Special laptops with pivot screen without touch screen

Laptops submitted by vandutran Jun 4

Hi,

Sometimes, i just want to have my laptop in tablet mode (to watch movies) and do not need touch screen capabilities. What do you think of having a laptop with a pivot screen, and without the cost ($) of touch screen? I wouldn't mind paying 20-40$ extra for pivot options, as long as the screen bezel needs not be increased :)

Implement an Option of an Intel Core 2 Extreme and a Intel Core 2 Quad processor and the new PENRYN processor on XPS 1330 and 1530 and a higher Graphics Card 8700gt or above

Sales Strategies, XPS products, Laptops submitted by bryan14c Jan 9

dell should implement a Core 2 extreme processor as an option for the XPS 1330 and 1530 and a first quad core notebook , because the high end models have this , why not on the 1330 and 1530 XPS is high end right? and also why stick to 8600gt that there is a 8700gt or above graphics card , well the XPS 1530 and 1330 overall design is great slim light, well as an addition dell should also implement a PENRYN processor

Release Systems with new major components on the same day they are annouced by the Hardware/Software Vendors

New Product Ideas, Service and Support submitted by lugo02 Feb 15

-Subtittle, Or at least on the day after.
e.g. When Nvdida announces a new Graphic Processor you can pick one up at Newegg.com and e-tailer that same day.

When ATI announce a new Graphics Card, you can bet that newegg.com has it.

I've have Seen Alienware have systems availble the same day that Intel/AMD/NVIDIA announces a new major component, yet I have to wait weeks or months before those new components can be configured on a Dell, but by then another major coponent is already out the door.

I am still waiting for you(Dell) to update the XPS 7xx with an NVidia 780i Motherboard chipset, until then I am holding my money.

Dell, we need faster development fom you.
oh yeah, I am still waiting on the 2408-HC 2 Comments »

Nvidia 9600GT is out, Dell should offer it immediately on their Systems

Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Desktops and Laptops submitted by lugo02 Feb 22

I think we should start seeing the new Nvidia 9600 GT offered on systems by sometime next week. Some of these cards retail for $179. So it's a great value/performance but since Dell has not began offering the new 512MB 8800GTS as yet we probably won't see the 9600GT offered by Dell for another couple months. It's a shame because by then Nvidia may have already released the higher versions.

Dell you have all weekend to do your testing, There is a good chance that Alienware will be offering it soon, so no reason why Dell can't do the same since they own Alienware

Stop Overcharging on Notebook RAM

Sales Strategies, Laptops submitted by realskript 08/28/07 **UNDER REVIEW**

Dell really... REALLY need to stop overcharging... and when i say overcharing... i mean atleast double what you would pay to pick up the ram yourself.
On XPS Notebooks... you are charging $500 for 4GB of ram... when you could easily go pick them up at your local computer shop for $250... and pocket the other half of the $500...

It would be nice if dell could save the customers as well as the company itself this hassle.. and start charging NORMAL prices for an upgrade in RAM.

thanks =D

PS..... PROMOTE THIS!!!!

There should be an option of having no trialware on all computers

Software submitted by jervis961 08/23/07 **REVIEWED**

Here is a news article about trialware and how Dell feels that regular customers want it but small business ones do. Do they not look at the ideas here?

"Not interested in all of the trial software that clutters up new PCs? You're not alone: According to Dell's recent research in both focus groups and broader surveys, small-business users overwhelmingly view trialware as an irritant, not a benefit. That research has led Dell to axe the extras from its new Vostro line of small-business desktop PCs and laptops. Eliminating demo applications is a major step for Dell, which has caught flack for the quantity of trialware on its consumer PCs. (One frustrated customer went so far as to develop a "Decrapifier" utility. The company says that consumers who buy PCs for personal use do express interest in preloaded trial software, but that small-business users have different needs. By eliminating the trialware from Vostro machines, Dell says it has cut the system setup time in half. For now, Dell is the only major PC manufacturer to ship small-business systems without preinstalled trialware as a standard practice. (Some competitors, such as HP, allow customers to choose a no-trialware configuration.)"

Dell offers a broad amount of software choice and minimal software shipped. Read jeremy_f's post on the options we give our customers

Put the 512MB Nvidia Geforce 9600 GT as an option for the XPS M1530

Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), XPS products submitted by darthomer May 25

Put the 512MB Nvidia Geforce 9800 GT as an option for the XPS M1530 it is as big the 256MB card avalible right now but this one is 512MB and will make Games way faster and better looking than the 256MB card avalible. if Dell does this than the XPS M1530 will be one of the most popular laptops at Dell infact I think that the only thing I didn't like about the XPS M1530 is its poor GPU. The Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTX is the same power but I didn't say that one because its too thick this one is like 4cm thick. it could add another $50 $100 $150 to this PCs price tag but its worth it

Give XPS Notebooks Gigabit Ethernet

XPS products submitted by croftki Feb 17

I understand that Dell market research says home users in general are not interested in gigabit ethernet for home networks. Those who pay for the premium design in the XPS line, however, are more likely to want gigabit ethernet. I would rather buy something more exciting than a business class notebook, but I want to build on my home technology with each purchase I make. XPS Notebooks unfortunately do not help me do this. It seems my only option is to buy a Latitude. 28 Comments »

LED Backlit Displays for Higher Resolutions for XPS M1530

Monitors and Displays, Sales Strategies, XPS products submitted by whitefrost May 14

The release of the LED backlit 1440 x 900 display is great, but needs to be expanded to higher resolutions most notably the 1680 x 1050 resolution which a large number of people use and are most comfortable with. It would not be a threat to the M1730 as you can keep the LED Full HD 1920 x 1200 for it alone. 6 Comments »
