Bring back DVI and better video card options on the Inspiron/"Vostro" line.

Inspiron products submitted by adorettic 08/13/07

The removal of a DVI port on all of the Vostro / Inspiron line is ridiculous. While the rest of the world is moving towards DVI dell is moving away from it. Also bring back the options for DX9 cards on these laptops because the current dx10 offering is worse than the card I bought on my Inspiron 9300. Leaving the DVI port only on the XPS laptops to force people to buy them is a really shady practice. Some people don't want to spend double the money of an inspiron 1520 or 1720 on an xps system to be able to play games playable on a 3 year old system. 3 Comments »

DVI (incl. DVI-D) for _everything_ please

Accessories (Keyboards, etc.) submitted by pstader 02/20/07

Too bad our purchasing missed to order the DVI Riser Card with our Optiplex. The guy who ordered extra picked Ultrasharp Displays with DVI input, which we have to use via the analog connection. No warning, no nothing during the order process. Why even sell computers without DVI ? Analog connections might have been alright for everything up to 1024 * 768 resolutions but everything above that really benefits a lot from dvi. So please. Make DVI standard and not optional. Would love to see Notebooks with Dvi connector too. 4 Comments »

DVI-D on Latitude

Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Latitude products, Laptops submitted by froderor 02/28/07

Please include DVI-D with HDCP on nex-gen Latitude D630 laptops. I guess you have already decided to go VGA-only on D630 - but for D640 it's a must have! Comment »

DVI ports on notebooks and tablets

Laptops submitted by sjss 02/21/07

With modern monitors and equipment shifting more and more towards DVI connections, and the fact that a DVI to VGA convertor is trivially obtained, but there are no VGA to DVI convertors easily obtainable, it makes sense to move notebooks to DVI. Those with VGA monitors can still easily connect them to their monitors, and those with DVI monitors will be able to use their monitors as well. 5 Comments »

Standardize Power Cables for Laptops

Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Laptops submitted by badblood 08/27/07 **UNDER REVIEW**

Nothing is more annoying than laptop power cables that are not interchangeable from one computer model to another or from one brand of computer to another. Power cables have been standardized on most electrical applicances, including desktop computers for decades.

Make an effort to promote and implement standard power cables for laptops.

Higher screen resolution options with laptops

Monitors and Displays, Laptops submitted by rdoorn 02/22/07

Laptops should have more options in screen resolutions.
Latitude D620 1280 x 800 resolution 1440 X 900 resolution
That is 800 pixels, Not much when you look at your photos from you digicam.
7 megapixel = 3072 x 2304 so you can only see 30% of a picture. 2 Comments »

Give us a choice between standard and widescreen lcds.

Monitors and Displays submitted by boomer63 07/11/07

Why the big push to widescreens? I can see the manufacturers incentive: less viewable area (in square inches) for the same diagonal measurement means higher profit. Measure a 19" standard lcd and a 19" widescreen and see just how much area you lose. I still use my PC mainly for email, office apps and gaming not watching widescreen DVDs. Comment »

Integrated POWERED usb ports on monitors and displays

Monitors and Displays submitted by macemace 07/20/07

Many USB peripherals require full USB power to work correctly. (e.g. digital xray sensors in dentistry and medicine)

Having to purchase and mount additional powered USB hubs is a major annoyance when monitors already have not only USB ports but also an incoming power source.

Idea: Use the AC source to power a AC converter to supply DC voltage to the display's USB ports and market 'powered display ports' as a Dell advantage.

IdeaStorm is a brilliant program. Kudos. 3 Comments »
