Interchangeable Notebook Covers

Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Laptops submitted by kg 06/26/07

Your Notebook can compliment your outfit, hey it can be part of your outfit - Accessorize!

Make covers of Notebooks Interchangable much like one can change the colour of ones eyeglass rims to match ones outfit. I think the ladies (and perhaps the gents) would love to have the ability to change the colour of their notebook, from Red to Pink to Black for example, depending on their clothes choice for the day! When one buys one's notebook one would receive a number of different coloured sleeves to insert into notebook lid. 2 Comments »

By default we have music palyers in laptops but for that we need to start OS and it consumes power, wondering if we have the option to enjoy music with out OS start and wireless/bluetooth heat set enabled. this elimiates the need of ipod and other music players.

XPS 1330 with a rotatable camera and more USB ports.

Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), XPS products submitted by mugunth 06/26/07

Have more USB ports on the XPS 1330, just like the 1210. Just 2 USB ports is very less. One is always occupied by the mouse, and only one remains free. Also, currently the XPS 1330 does not feature a rotatable camera like the 1210. Please add that feature as an option in XPS 1330. 18 Comments »

Allow customers to come to Dell.com and Order just "Plant a Tree"

Dell Web Site, Environment, New Product Ideas submitted by clocks 06/27/07 **ALREADY OFFERED**

Allow users to work with dell to imrpove Dell's "green" image. Make an "Accessories" product to allow people to just order "plant a tree" or to order as many "Plant a tree"s as they want. This option was not presented when I bought a desktop just a few days ago and I personally would go back right now and order "Plant a tree" because I would like to.

I think that if nothing else, the few minutes it would take Dell to setup this option would give you guys something to point to, even if it wasnt an option that a lot of people had taken advantage of.

if you wanted to take the concept a step forward, build a few add banners/buttons etc to make freely availible with the code to insert one on your web page. The button would be something along the lines of "Join Dell in planting trees". Your logo is associated with an environmental practice, blue logo on green with various tree abstracts in the image, etc. Reputation boost, plus you have genuinely provided a capability to your user base and various concerns on the internet to actively take part in helping Dell be green.

Sure, maybe you are using a few hours of the time of your salaried workers who you already pay for to add the item to the site and create some logos but if you really care about improving your reputation in this area, it might be an investment well worth it. 14 Comments »

I would like to see all Inspiron laptops have HDMI connectors standard, or at a minimum make it an option on the 17" screen version. 3 Comments »

Dell, don't charge extra $20 [edit: $50] for a different color notebook

Inspiron products, Sales Strategies submitted by iv2101 06/28/07

It's great that more colors are available, but customers are currently charged extra on Inspiron 1420 and 1420N for colors other than black.
Vote for color equality!

[edit: this price difference went up to 50 bucks now!] 4 Comments »

Make the option to upgrade to 4 gb of RAM

Sales Strategies, Desktops and Laptops submitted by johnpro 06/28/07

Many of the new computers are not giving consumers the option to install more than 2 gb of ram. It would be nice to make computers with the ability to hold more than 2 gb. 6 Comments »

Slot Loading Drives

Laptops submitted by drew08867 06/28/07

All dell notebooks should be fitted with slot loading drives similar to the macbook, ps3, and the recently released XPS 1330. They are less prone to damage, slimmer, and all together cooler. It fits with the direction dell is going. The new inspiron line is fantastic! Great job Dell! 4 Comments »

Smaller Power Bricks

Laptops submitted by drew08867 06/28/07

I know they've gotten smaller with the new line of inspirons, but lenovo's are still something to be rivaled. What is the point of having a thin/light laptop and a heavy power brick you have to carry around with it? 4 Comments »

Kitchentop PC

New Product Ideas submitted by daniel117 06/29/07

I was thinking of a PC in the kitchen that hangs below your cabinet. With this, you can check out the recipe of that Apple Crumb Pie that you were going to bake, or take a look at your e-mail while cooking while waiting for your dish to cook, or go and examine the weather for that picnic you were going to take today.

The design of the computer can be like one of those kitchen DVD player things, the computer will be a mini tower on its side with a fold out 12 in. LCD touchscreen display with a swivel mount. 6 Comments »

Allow Notebook "Upgrades" - reuse old chassis, parts, cut down on waste

Environment, Sales Strategies submitted by pkchen 06/29/07

Any way we can get machine "upgrades" instead of having to buy a whole new computer? I notice that many of the laptop designs use the same chassis across multiple platform generations -- is there a way we can turn in our old notebook and get the guts replaced?

We'd be able to reuse not only the notebook chassis, but also the screen, keyboard, CD/DVD drive, etc. Whatever is reusable we should reuse ... and the stuff that isn't compatible w/ the upgrade ... recycle! Or reuse in someone else's notebook config. Dell could offer a discounted pricing for reusing parts ... and we wouldn't have to create as much waste as buying a completely new computer.

Option for gigabit ethernet for new Inspirons.

Inspiron products submitted by benjesuit 06/29/07

Currently, only 10/100 is offered.

Would be awfully nice to have the option to have gigabit ethernet on the Inspiron 1520/21, 1720/21.

That being 10/100/1000. 7 Comments »

Overclocking options

Sales Strategies, Desktops and Laptops submitted by carlobaluta 02/20/07

Have overclocking options in BIOS, as other motherboard manufacturers have. This should apply to high end gaming machines, designed for people who know what they are doing.
Also, i believe this kind of computers are way too pricey as I can always buy the parts and build such a machine for way less and with far more options...
