I have noticed a lot of Ideas are repeats. I would like to help solve this problem by finding Ideas that fit under basically the same Guidelines. What do you think? Higher refresh rates on large LCD Monitors at native resolutions. Monitors and Displays submitted by bugfreezer 11/04/07 I really want to get a larger LCD monitor (24" or higher), but I hesitate because I am looking for a higher than 60 hz refresh rate - I see the flicker at that freq. Please get the specs improved on those larger monitors to support 75-85hz vertical refresh rates. 8 Comments » Change the sub title of this website... IdeaStorm submitted by badblood 09/11/07
it says: Dell: provide advanced order configuration assistance programme Sales Strategies, Service and Support submitted by phubert 09/11/07
Given a recent experience with an order here for two 16-port KVM switches and discussion in another thread, I thought Dell might consider implementing "advanced order configuration assistance". Monitors and Displays, XPS products submitted by jtanwanteng 09/11/07
1" thin, 5lbs or less and a geforce 8600m gt with real GDDR3. 1440x900 or better and you'll have a ridiculous winner on your hands. Make a 15" variant too if you want (to compete with the macbook) PCI Card Cage for Dell Precision 690 Workstation upgrades Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Precision Workstations submitted by ai5u 09/11/07
The Dell Precision 690 is defintely an outstandting workstation but I have ran into an unusual situation in trying to upgrade my system in which Dell may not have thought about for those like me who wish to upgarde their systems. My base workstation is the 1Kw power supply option with the single video card. I have purchased the Pci-e duel video riser card upgrade and the duel video card fan as with two upgradeable Nvidia Quadro FX 3450 video cards from Dell with no problem. As I was in the process of upgrading my workstation, I noticed that my PCI card cage that is attached to the back center of the chassis would not accommadate my new two video cards with my new riser board. I thought, "I'll give Dell Spare Parts a call since I did not see this upgradeable item on the parts website". Dell Parts said "that this special split-level PCI card cage is only available with 690 workstations with duel video cards purchased at time of assembly from the factory". As I bit my tonge, I thought - "Why in the world would Dell promote this workstation as scaleable and upgradeable but not offer one part that would stop anybody in there tracks trying to upgrade their system!?" I have searched all over the internet for the possibility of finding one of these "split-level PCI card cages" for a Dell 690 Workstation upgrade and have had no luck at all finding one. There is a Dell Part number for one of these that I found out from a undisclosed source. It is Dell P/N KF255. But I cannot obtain one from Dell at all! Please Dell make this "split-level" PCI Card cage option available as a spare part and available to the public for those of us who wish to upgrade to the duel video card option! tell us how much dell pays for a vista license Dell, Operating Systems submitted by howlingmadhowie 09/12/07 i for one would be very interested in knowing how much a copy of vista increases the price of a new computer from dell. i think it is a perfectly fair request that the customer be told this. 6 Comments » Cool! Yeah right, see the red spots (please ignore the weird language ;-) ): Make the dell ubuntu models available through the main webpage Dell Web Site, Linux, Sales Strategies submitted by rajeevbhatta 06/19/07 **UNDER REVIEW**
Instead of having the model listings on a different webpage ( www.dell.com/open) have these models available from the product search you have on the main page or a link available through the main page (www.dell.com) Dell's Website must work with Firefox running on Linux Dell Web Site, Linux submitted by qgonjon 07/16/07 **UNDER REVIEW**
It's discouraging to have a Tier 1 vendor (Dell) selling Linux products and yet not really tailoring to Linux. Don't get me wrong Dell, I am not trying to take away all the good you have done. Offering Linux is a step in the right direction and I would like to see more steps taken in a monthly or quarterly basis. But, it seems that the basis for your current Linux promotion is for the Open Source enthusiast like me. I use Linux at home and at work as my main operating system. I use Firefox as my browser and I'm trying to order a Dell Inspiron 1420N. However, it seems that the embedded flash script that shows the different colors choices for the Inspiron is not working under Linux. It also shows that I can't see the different images thereafter. It works with Windows running Firefox as my vmware machine verified. But that is not the type of user that will most likely purchase a Linux laptop. Ubuntu on all models where it works Linux, Operating Systems, Small Business submitted by jonsmirl 08/01/07 **IN PROGRESS**
I'm still throwing away copies of Windows. Recently I have ordered some Dimension 9200s from Small Business. All of these machines are running Ubuntu today without problem. They're being used to replace some PE400SCs that are starting to die. A 2GB quad core for $649 was too good a deal to pass up. It makes a great small server. Tell us what WiFi chipset a laptop has. Ubuntu is hidden in a dark corner of the website. I work in IT support, and I have a client who was having virus problems a little while ago. I fixed the problem by installing Ubuntu on their PC. Very recently they called me asking for advice on a new computer, I told them about your new offer providing Ubuntu pre-installed on PCs and they wanted to purchase, but could not find the section on your site (this person is a very basic user, doesn't know what open-source means, probably didn't even see the open source link). There is no way they would have found your Ubuntu section on their own. Standardize Power Cables for Laptops Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Laptops submitted by badblood 08/27/07 **UNDER REVIEW**
Nothing is more annoying than laptop power cables that are not interchangeable from one computer model to another or from one brand of computer to another. Power cables have been standardized on most electrical applicances, including desktop computers for decades. There should be an option of having no trialware on all computers Software submitted by jervis961 08/23/07 **REVIEWED**

OK Dell you have committed to supplying Linux options in limited form. Since you have laid the groundwork already here is the next step. Every new product you release that needs an Operating system should have Linux and also no Operating System as an option in the configuration along side Windows. Since you have to write drivers and test compatability for Vista when making a new product just make it compatable with Linux at the same time. There will no longer be a need for a seperate sections for Linux or no Operating system since all of the products will have the option. this will help make your site easier to navigate for you customers. You can also create an ACCURATE help me choose section for the OS choices. Stop Overcharging on Notebook RAM Sales Strategies, Laptops submitted by realskript 08/28/07 **UNDER REVIEW**

Dell should explore the cell phone / pda market for a new product line. Dell, Dell Web Site submitted by kontithegreek 07/20/07
i really think that dell.com needs to go back to what it used to be or freshen it up somehow for example if you go to www.dell.com/mall its a very very bland website that kind of sets a dull mood throughout searching through everything. I think personally that the site should have a little different front page one that is more eye catching for example put the all the available notebooks and sizes all the available desktops on the main page and when we click each one display more information about them. I also would like to see compare this notebook to this so that way people who want to know why its better to get the 17 inch XPS over the 17 inch inpsiron and so on so forth. I also think that dell should put a few more graphics up and a few more descriptions of the products. I think dell in general should do a whole site refresh that makes it a lot more interesting... the other thing i think dell needs to do is also spruce up the configuration just a bit more i.e. add a battery meter to say how much battery life with the current set up and a scale to show the approximate weight of the laptop. Also have a little bigger pictures of the current configuration and when we add things show what the laptop will look like i.e. bigger batteries on the smaller laptops, show the webcam built into the system and what it'll look like etc etc etc.. the main reason i am thinking this is because as a dell direct store employee i deal with the site a lot and quite a few customers have been wondering if the dell website would become more interesting and have a little bit more interesting things on it better animations and all around a better look a new beginning if you will put it easily! track my votes
