No Extra Software Option

Software submitted by ootleman 02/16/07 **PARTIALLY IMPLEMENTED**

Would love the ability to have a clean Vista install. No AOL software, no earthlink software, no google software - just a clean, original OS.

Check out jeremy_f's update on our current software options.

Get GNU/Linux Machines in Retail Stores

Linux submitted by dpic Feb 14

Imagine how successful Dell's Ubuntu offering could be if just one Dell Ubuntu machine was put in retail stores. If people knew of an alternative to Windows, they would go for it! So what do you say, Dell? Why don't you try to put at least one of your Ubuntu machines offered in retail stores? 734 Comments »

Sell more desktops without monitors, keyboards, etc

Desktops, Environment, Sales Strategies submitted by gordonbrown77 02/16/07 **COMING SOON**

Make it an option to not get things people may already have when upgrading a PC such as monitors, mouse, keyboard. This would be good environmentally and save people some money if they already have theae things and will not be keeping the old PC. 33 Comments »

Make A Wireless Dell

Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Desktops, Monitors and Displays submitted by reg 08/07/07 **COMING SOON**

Apple has a real, valid point: Too many cables in a typical PC setup.

I think Dell could make a combo cable, or a unified display (display/camera/stereo speakers).

Dell should work on a nice clean design - like Apple's clean design - less cable rat nests, more computing power. 220 Comments »

NICE New Dell montor! Keep making great designs like this.

Monitors and Displays submitted by jmxz 05/18/07

http://www.engadget.com/2007/05/18/dells-ultra-thin-concept-lcd-with-displayp...

Dell's ultra-thin LCD concept with DisplayPort going retail?
...
Remember that super swanky Dell monitor concept we went ga ga over back at January's CES? Yeah, we still find it hard to believe it's a Dell design. Well, it'll apparently be up for sale later in the year.
Beautiful - we want more great designs like this. 41 Comments »

Never use a Dell Sales Representative

Sales Strategies, Service and Support submitted by mmckune Feb 12

Not that I need to tell anyone this, but NEVER EVER under any circumstances should you complete your purchase with a DELL Sales Rep.

Always use the web shopping cart and check out. The Sales Rep will mess up your order, drop your promotions, etc....

Perhaps others have had better experiences by mine was terrible, SLOW and cost me $200 in addition to the wasted time.

Sales Rep is 0 for 1.
Online purchase/checkout is 14/14 13 Comments »

Touch screen all-in-one entertainment PC

Monitors and Displays, Software, Desktops and Laptops submitted by space_cowboy 11/07/07

How nice to read about the rumours of a Dell all-in-one PC*. However, it would be fantastic if it featured a touch screen in order to enable easy operation in a home entertainment setting using an updated version of the MediaDirect or Media Center software, for example. Add TV and FM tuners, alarm clock, remote control, as well as a nice set of Bose speakers and you get your perfect media system that operates easily without the need for (optional wireless) keyboard and mouse.

BTW Will we be able to buy it in Europe, too?

HP is already selling its TouchSmart, but Dell could do better!

System Update

Dell Web Site, Service and Support submitted by ahazan Feb 9

Crrently in Dell software & driver support dell takes your system tag and shows all available drivers and software for all peripherals that were offered on that system. that could mean 5 video cards 3 wireless nics, 4 CDR drives. It should be more like windows update or Lenovo thinkvanatge system update where it detects what hardware you have (or looks up what was shipped by service tag) and offers you only software and drivers for WHAT YOU HAVE. and also only offers drivers newer than what's currently installed 9 Comments »

Post Laptop Display Specs for Brightness and Contrast

Monitors and Displays submitted by canuck58 Feb 11

It would be most fair and honest to list the Laptop display specs of brightness and contrast so we know what we are buying; many other competitors do. Last Inspiron 9300 I purchased has a dismal dark 1920x1200 screen making it very difficult to use anywhere near bright light sources or backlit sources. 1 Comment »

Enable Full features RAID (0, 1, 5, 1+0)

Inspiron products, Vostro products submitted by laurentg06 Feb 11

I just purchased a Vostro 400 system and I would like to set up a RAID 0 configuration with my 2 disks .
But in bios, there is only the option to set up a RAID 1 configuration.
The Vostro and Inspiron motherboard (OEM Foxconn G33M03) has a ICH9R Chipset that allows RAID 0, 1, 5, 0+1

Why Dell has restricted RAID options in the bios setup ?
Please provide us with an updated bios that allows to set up any possible RAID configurations. 18 Comments »

Bring More Support positions to North America

Service and Support submitted by johnsteffens Feb 11

I know for the sites in Canada that this post is far too late but people do not want to speak to individuals whose primary language is not English. This makes communication difficult for several reasons, the person calling in cannot understand the support personal the support personnel may not understand what the caller is stating and there are also large social differences that affect the way people from different cultures interact. I myself have work for Dell in their Edmonton location in the Dell on Call Department and myself have had difficult times conducting a conversations with people in other departments. Also many Dell customers are not aware of the correct terminology for what they are trying to reference and thus making it more difficult to understand what they are trying to get across, this would be a much harder task if your grasp on the language was not 100%. 1 Comment »

Add Sales Support Area To Dell Forums

Dell Community, Sales Strategies, Service and Support submitted by aikiwolfie Feb 11

The "Sales Support" area would be specifically for people who are experiencing problems with the sales process.

For example advice on what to do if your order doesn't arrive, if you're not happy with the time it took for your order to arrive or if you're simply having trouble understanding Dells gobbledy gook. 9 Comments »

Latitude E retro-compatible with D/Port

Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Latitude products submitted by cestuila Feb 11

Hi,

I, can't wait to see the new Latitude E range. However I have 2 fears:
- that they come too late for us to have the option to buy them with Windows XP (or that DELL offers drivers so we can downgrade from Vista Business to XP)

- that they come with a new range of docking stations. I think this is necessary, in order to include new ports (eSata, Display Port,,,) in these new docking stations, HOWEVER, I really hope that the Latitude E can be compatible with the D/Port, D/Dock, etc. that we already have.

Thx 6 Comments »
