Transparent XPS Case

Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), XPS products submitted by daniel117 12/22/07

While surfing the web, I noticed that some gaming PCs had transparent PC cases. So I said, "Since XPS is mostly and mainly used for gaming, why can't it be like the other systems with transparent cases?"Anyway, it looks cool when all the "behind-the-scenes" stuff can be seen without taking off the lid. There should also be dark blue colored lights inside to enable you to see inside, also like the other gaming systems. 9 Comments »

UPDATE the Graphics Card of XPS 1530

Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), XPS products submitted by bryan14c 12/22/07

Hp had an update of their 8600gs graphics card and still DELL has a 256mb 8600gt , why not upgrade it to 512mb plus using DDR3 and still even though there is a 256mb option at least it will be DDR3 in it, well DELL must update the XPS 1530 with a 8600gt 512mb DDR3 graphics Card 7 Comments »

printer and laptop in one

Printers and Ink, Laptops submitted by buttafuco 06/26/07

it would be so cool if you could print something without having to carry a separate, bulky printer, just your laptop. or instead of having to find a kinkos or hotel business center where they will charge you $.50 a page or something crazy. i think the technology is small enough that it could be incorporated into the bottom of the laptop as an option for people on the go. Dell could either make it like a battery that you can pop out and put a paper thru and bluetooth send from your computer or where the printer is actually part of the laptop like a bottom layer.

if you demote - explain why please. bad idea? not feasible? wouldn't buy it? duplicate? 23 Comments »

Boycott Dell Until They Start Listening And Implementing Ideas Properly

Software submitted by aikiwolfie 12/23/07

Microsoft Options

Dear Dell,

Recently when trying to configure a 530s through the "Home Channel" for use as a PVR I discovered that I had no option to configure the system without any Microsoft productivity software. The minimum option was Microsoft Works 8.0.

As I was configuring this 530s to be the basis of a PVR I had absolutely no need of Microsoft's productivity software. As I am an OpenOffice user I would in fact not require Microsoft Works or Office on a normal desktop PC anyway.

It has however come to my attention that Dell offers a "Microsoft opt-out option" through it's business channels. As a consumer who has spent thousands of pounds on Dell hardware over the last few years this makes me very angry indeed.

This sort of two faced poossy footing around has made me feel as though I am some sort of "second class" customer. Perhaps I should stop buying premium hardware like XPS desktops and the 27" UltraSharp LCD or the 26" W2600 LCD TV. Which over the past 4 or 5 years amounts to roughly £3200 or $US6350 not counting the less expensive items I have bought from Dell.

As a Dell consumer who spends thousands of pounds on premium Dell hardware I expect Dell to treat every consumer shopping through either the home or business channels equally. Bear in mind Dell. Some of your "Home" shoppers literally spend the IT budget of a small company in one shopping spree with Dell. 6 Comments »

Add Option to buy a Laptop Cooler with purchase

Laptop Power submitted by hesham 12/25/07

Need to buy a trusted laptop cooler with the laptop, it should consume low power for its' fans and built from good cooling material.
This is need to cool the laptop, and in case of the need to put it on our legs it will be easier, as you will not fell the laptop heat on your legs.

I can find many on the market but not sure of the power they will consume and their efficieny, need Dell to test some of them and add them to the optional laptop accessories 4 Comments »

Provide Nvidia 8700M video card option on XPS M1530

XPS products submitted by aaronpau 12/26/07

Currently, the best video card option on the XPS M1530 is the Nvidia 8600M GT 256MB. There needs to at least be a 8700M GT 256MB option, if not 8700M GT 512MB. 7 Comments »

XPS M1530 Led Monitor lighting

Monitors and Displays, XPS products submitted by valerio.gioia 12/27/07

Led lighting for XPS M1530 displays would be a really interesting option. Many people would choose that display since there is less power consumption and led life is really higher than CCFL tubes! 23 Comments »

Fix your Twitter feeds

Dell Community, Dell Web Site, IdeaStorm submitted by jervis961 12/27/07

I decided to check out the new Dell Twitter feeds and came away very disappointed.

I started out with the IdeaStorm feed which features a condensed version of the banner from this site.

The condensed version doesn't show all the words just "STORM your idea" which gave me a hint of the quality of the links. I then looked through the idea links and discovered that while the RSS feed they use adds new ideas eventually it doesn't remove deleted ones. There are links posted to ideas that Dell has removed from IdeaStorm but they only lead to the popular ideas page.

If the IdeaStorm Twitter page is this bad I can only imagine what customers will think of the ones set up for the Dell Outlet and Home Offers when the links don't work anymore. 1 Comment »

Option to disable the bright blue LED indicator lights on Inspiron Notebooks

submitted by hornysax 12/16/07

I am currently returning a 1420 laptop I recently purchased. The reason is because the blue LED indicator lights on the front of the laptop are too bright. I have color blindness, and my eyes may have heightened sensitivity to color contrast.

I would like accurate representaton of the LED indicator lights on your laptop brands, or an option to turn these off or reduce the brightness on them. I don't purchase any electronics that use blue LED lights.

I also currently own a 700m. The lights are a faint green, and very tame. 1 Comment »

High resolution screen and new video card (DirectX 10) on XPS M1330

XPS products submitted by sentron 12/17/07

XPS M1330 is among the best laptops currently available from any manufacturer. It will be the best if Dell improves the video features on this laptop. The model is good eye candy from the outside, but it will be good eye candy from the inside if you add these features:

Please introduce a new model with the choice of:

1. High resolution screen (WXGA+ or WSXGA+)
2. Video card with DirectX 10 support. As a Linux user, I prefer nVidia than ATI.
3. Webcam in these high resolution models, preferably 2 megapixels or higher
4. Choice of LCD or regular backlight. 1 Comment »

Focus on Product Quality not Customer support

Dell submitted by badblood 12/17/07

I was just thinking if Dell computers were better quality there would be less need for customer support. Right? I mean if they weren't like breaking all the time or if we weren't receiving the wrong order or a late order you'd think the phones would go quiet. I mean we are not so lonely as to want to call customer support when we don't need to. We could do something else, like actually use our computers or play with a stick and ball with our children outside. This isn't really an idea is it. I was just bored. Nothing here. Look away. Bye..... 3 Comments »

Update the Nvidia video driver for the XPS M1730

XPS products submitted by explo5ivo 12/17/07

Here's an idea, Can we get a video driver update for the XPS M1730? please ! this computer comes with the Nvidia driver that does not support SLI and aero, here's the problem when you enable SLI and aero is enabled, if you have the resolution cranked up to the max (1920 x 1200 resolution) you can't play games at 32 bit, they will crash every time, the Nvidia video driver 169.09 will fix this issue but is not supported by DELL, Can DELL please update this driver to fix this problem? thank you that's an idea.!!!!! 2 Comments »

Temperature Sensors on XPS Motherboards

XPS products submitted by thomasp94 12/17/07

Temperature and fan speed sensors should be a standard feature on ALL XPS motherboards. And we should be able to monitor them using any sensor program, not just in the bios or with a Dell specific program. 1 Comment »

Option to disable C4 in BIOS

submitted by dollifer 12/17/07

This has to do with the CPU Whine issue thats plaguing the majority of notebooks at the present time. Since RM Clock seems to crash an awful lot of notebooks when the 'disable C4' is checked, we need a stable option, in the BIOS for instance, for disabling C4 since that is what's making the noise.

Come on Dell and fix the whine! 11 Comments »

Have a Fast Re-ordering Channel

Service and Support, XPS products submitted by dirtonth 12/18/07

I have just received my XPS 1330 after waiting for it for 12 Weeks.

When I orederred it the first time it came after 5 weeks as it was delayed because it seems that Laptop Displays had been out of stock at the mounting stage, and when I received it, the cover was Crimson Red, instead of Tuxedo Black as I had orderred it. The Service Tag also said that it should be Black even though it wasn't. This was definitely a case of a mistake in the production line, but Dell did not accept to make a Fast re-order.

On the next delivery, the product was stolen in transit, and since I purchased the Item from Dell's Local authorised reseller, Dell did not accept it as a corporate problem, but as the distributers problem, and here again, a new full order had to be placed.

I think Dell should have a channel to make fast re-orders in case of such happenings. Comment »

Updating XPS M1330

Advertising and Marketing, Gaming, Sales Strategies, XPS products submitted by gattomorbido 12/13/07

Only few days (15 gen 08) and Apple will presents the new 12/13.3" MacBook (Pro?):
thinner, lighter, more powerful.

M1330 will lose the 1st position?
No longer the best e thinner 13.3" notebook ever?
Absolutly no! Don't!!!
M1330 was the best and should remains!

Again, who says little size = little powerful?

Let us choice if we want power or battery duration!
We need a very portable system yes, but it must be full powered!!!

Little AND powerful!

So, Mr. Dell, please updating the M1330, the REAL competitor of MacBook (pardon, Macbook was the competitor... :) with thin features:

- video card 8600gs or superior (see LG P300: they made it!)
- gigabit lan (why only 10/100 lan? chipset support gigabit!)
- webcam better, at least 1.3mpx (LG P300 again)
- no glare effetc option (I want to see what happens on screen!)

I'm waiting your updating BEFORE buy my next Dell notebook.
I must change my Inspiron soon, very soon, so be quick! 8 Comments »
