Are there any plans for a Blu-Ray drive in the M1330 laptop. It's the only reason i haven't bought one. And why is there an HDMI out with no high-def drive? Tell us what WiFi chipset a laptop has. Broadband and Mobility, Dell Web Site, Linux, Laptops submitted by tonyb2006 08/29/07 **UNDER REVIEW**
Tell us the WiFi chipset used in a laptop before we buy it so we know if the WiFi chipset supports a feature we want, or if it supports Linux or another operating system that we intend to use. The WiFi chipset being like "Intel ipw2200" or "Broadcom BCM4306", or "Ralink rt2500". Give us the option of a glossy or a non-glossy screen on ALL desktop monitors REGARDLESS of color Monitors and Displays submitted by winoffice Mar 13
I have checked the Dell Web site and I have seen in most cases (on desktop monitors) that the black screens have non-glossy screens and that the silver screens have glossy screens. And why is that Dell? What if I want a non-glossy screen on a silver monitor, or a glossy screen on a black monitor? Please give us the option of a glossy (TrueLife) or a non-glossy (anti-glare) screen on ALL desktop monitors REGARDLESS of whether it is silver or black. Display with No Cable Connected Monitors and Displays submitted by lyonadmiral May 12 As an IT professional who annually will setup systems in count of 50 plus, there is nothing more time consuming or wasteful than disconnecting the VGA cable from the LCD panel only to put the DVI cable on. These displays need to come from the factory with NO cables connected to the monitor. Comment » Up to date video drivers: ATI requires Dell's permission... Gaming, Monitors and Displays, Service and Support submitted by zorgkang 05/08/07
Dell doesn't bother "forwarding" to us video card driver updates released by ATI. There is an easy solution though and all that Dell has to do is say "ok" to ATI. Please read on. Offer the new mobility HD 3000 series as an option on laptops Broadband and Mobility, Gaming, Laptops submitted by theideasman Mar 16
Nvidias cards produce more juice overall however when it comes to portable cards i belive ati have always been the best. While i love nvidia they always slightly disappoint me on the mobile graphics card front. They always produce cards that are much slower than their desktop equivalents. Ati on the other hand have just announced the mobility hd3000 series which should apparently fit in smaller framed 15.4 laptops. Thats what the mainstream want. Customization options. Too limited. I just tried to select a XPS 630, and customize it. Service and Support submitted by joes15 May 28 I have been told that I can only upgrade my Dimension E521 with parts from Dell because other parts won't work. In other words Dell uses proprietary parts. This really dissapoints me. I bought my PC with the thought that I would be able to upgrade later. I think that if Dell would use standard parts it could 1. porbably save a lot of money when it comes to manufacturing, and 2. it could increase sales because people want very upgradeable PC's. I know I do. 4 Comments » Desktops submitted by class2008 05/25/07 Dell should begin producing all 64 bit pc's. WIth rumors of Windows Vista being the last OS available in 32 bit, they should get consumers ready with 64 bit pc's, at reasonable prices. 50 Comments » Give XPS Notebooks Gigabit Ethernet XPS products submitted by croftki Feb 17 I understand that Dell market research says home users in general are not interested in gigabit ethernet for home networks. Those who pay for the premium design in the XPS line, however, are more likely to want gigabit ethernet. I would rather buy something more exciting than a business class notebook, but I want to build on my home technology with each purchase I make. XPS Notebooks unfortunately do not help me do this. It seems my only option is to buy a Latitude. 28 Comments » Label the CDs with which models they affect Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Simplify IT submitted by djtansey May 20 Label the Resource CDs, and any other machine-specific CDs, with a list of which models it supports. This would make it much easier for IT departments to file their resource CDs for further use. 6 Comments » give the origianl CD of the OS and not an ISO Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Service and Support submitted by siger May 19
when there is a problem with the Master Boot Record the ISO can't repair it and we have to go to a reparation company. Accessories (Keyboards, etc.) submitted by falbert May 22 How come we can still get in 2008 mechanical mice. Come on guys, in 2008 there should be only optical mice available. Also please make it clear on the web site what people are purchasing. 26 Comments » Monitors and Displays, Laptop Power submitted by yardsale Jan 16 I dont know why dell hasnt done this yet. switch all monitors on desktops and notebooks to LED. did you know that you can run an LED screen at full brightniess and it uses less power than a LCD monitor at the lowest brighting level?!? its cheaper, its energy efficent, and it needs to be done! promote this, if you demote i wanna know why! 63 Comments » Stop Overcharging on Notebook RAM Sales Strategies, Laptops submitted by realskript 08/28/07 **UNDER REVIEW**
Dell really... REALLY need to stop overcharging... and when i say overcharing... i mean atleast double what you would pay to pick up the ram yourself. Laptops, Laptop Power submitted by badblood 05/20/07 **UNDER REVIEW**
MagSafe power connectors, by Apple, are magnetic power connectors that pull out harmlessly when the cord is tripped upon. Standardize Power Cables for Laptops Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Laptops submitted by badblood 08/27/07 **UNDER REVIEW**
Nothing is more annoying than laptop power cables that are not interchangeable from one computer model to another or from one brand of computer to another. Power cables have been standardized on most electrical applicances, including desktop computers for decades. track my votes
