The "Patriot"! American Made
Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Laptops submitted by sa2008

We live in a global marketplace with a global economy; however, many of us are still very proud to be AMERICAN. I would very much like to see Dell produce a laptop called the "Patriot". This machine should be AMERICAN made, and it should have a couple of really cool and patriotic color options.
color option 1 - camo with the end users choice of military logos color option 2 - the US FLAG
I realize that Dell has move a portion of its workforce to other countries; however, I still consider Dell an AMERICAN company.
I see this type of laptop as an opportunity for Dell to give back a little to the people and the country that made it possible to be DELL.
I would also like to see a portion of every patriot laptop sold dedicated to a charity that specifically supports wounded soldiers and their families!
It's time for Dell to be AMERICAN PROUD!!!!

Re-style the laptop housing to look like a race car.

"Transformer" fans and others that like race car styled products would be the first responders. Obviously this is not for everyone. This concept may involve relocating the internal parts so that everything will fit and the balance would be correct. All sorts of new visual design features could be added… for example the interior could be where the CPU is located; maybe the hood could open to expose simm chips. Real rubber tires. Lights that work. The exhaust pipe could be the CPU heat pipe. Trunk that opens to expose the I/O connections. Etc.

DELL stop "messing with" or sensoring our posts. You allow vulgar ID's but you change catagories that we post to? The idea of adding other relevant catagories is so the idea will be veiwed by the most people possible.
This idea has been sent to all catagories, If that changes they have "edited this post".

Dell your new Latitude is so ugly (on the exterior; the interior looks good)!

Dell your new Latitude is so ugly (on the exterior; the interior looks good). First where have you got Dell rectangles???? It is supposed to have Dell circles! And the divided grey/light grey look of the exterior is the ugliest. As it is no XPS with flashy lights, it should be all black or all silver (but the Dell circles should be silver). And look here. 2.6" height???? Up to now, the thickest Dell laptop that I have ever seen was only 2", not 2.6". 8.98 pounds for a 14.1" laptop???? Dell you really need to improve on your new Latitude.

how (LAME) is "Red" - no more!
Advertising and Marketing, Dell Community, Dell Web Site submitted by zanlok

This may not be a popular post. But, I consider it a civic duty as a conservative independent. I think my views are very representative of other REAL, BUSINESS customers who invest lots of dollars every year from their budget into Dell products.
Personally, I could care no less about (Red) products. A lame (red) tag in NO way would ever influence my purchasing decisions for a computer product! Nor would any other gimmicky moniker other random or trendy causes.
Dell can't possibly cover all of the causes. If Michael Dell wants to donate to a cause, let him do so. Make it public or keep it private - whatever. If customers that happen to like Dell products want to donate to some charity, let them. Let's not confuse the issue here: Dell is in business to give us great products and take in a profit. It isn't their job to prop up AIDS awareness.
This just has nothing to do with what I want. If I am spending thousands of dollars on a computer, I probably have other things on my mind completely dissimilar from world peace or whatever. And, if I donate to Red, then it may be I choose to give them severan hundred dollars outright. The pittance ($0.25?) Red ever actually gets from these things just isn't going to matter very much!
P.S. Sure, this is overall a great cause. No one wants so many people dying. I personally do budget money to donate to charities from every paycheck. I'm not just saying this, I really do give more than 10% of my money to charity. The same thing goes for pink breast cancer stuff. They only get 1 fraction of a penny for each yogurt lid or whatever else.
If you at Dell really want to help a charity, just give them your dollars directly! I know they can use the publicity, but to me it just looks like Dell is capitalizing on how good it looks to certain gullible customers that you are partnering with whatever charity.

Make (PRODUCT) RED as an item in system configuration to let more people contribute
Advertising and Marketing, Desktops and Laptops submitted by programatix

Dell (PRODUCT) RED items base configurations are too exclusive for common people to purchase. The base configuration is set too high making it impossible to those who really wanted to contribute to really contribute.
Further more, by doing so, it may look like customers have to pay more to more party (mainly Microsoft, for Windows Vista Ultimate) and Dell (because of higher configuration) but Dell is making name as RED partner like a parasite.
I'm not saying that Dell (PRODUCT) RED is ill-purposed but by making the (PRODUCT) RED items too exclusive, people might end up thinking that way.
So, Dell, it would be best if (PRODUCT) RED is included as an item in system configuration. By doing so, people who wanted to contribute during any system purchase can just select it. Please also publish a report of (PRODUCT) RED item purchase and make sure that the exact value of the item is transfered to the fund. What I mean is, let say the price for the item is 10 USD, then 10 USD must be transfered.
