My First PC

Advertising and Marketing submitted by dallaskims 02/21/07

I have a 3 1/2 year old daughter, and she likes getting on the computer and we look stuff up on the internet. I find though that because she only knows half the alphabet, and there's words on the keyboard she doesn't even know, its hard for her to get started and to be really excited about the computer. She'd much rather play with her LeapPad.

Maybe somehow design a computer that is toddler friendly. First of all it should be resistant to spilled orange juice in the keyboard. Another thing it should somehow be designed to be less complicated. Keyboard would include a big green YES button, a red NO button, the directional keys would be "kid like". Or somehow design a magic "finger pointer" that they can use that interfaces with a variety of software. Believe it or not, using a mouse is an acquired talent.

The marketing of such a product would be easy. How many grandma's are out there and would see a commercial for My First PC and buy it for their grandchildren. The kiddie market is huge. Not to mention, it can be age range specific. By age group 3 yrs - 5 yrs, 6 yrs to 8 yrs, etc...and it would have built in filters for websites etc, because it would know the age of the user. If we can dumb down cash registers at McDonalds to be more friendly to the undereducated, certainly there's a way to cater to very young children as well to get them started on being excited about computers. 1 Comment »
