THEY ARE Vista available on Precision WorkStation T7400 Memory Riser Nseries Precision Workstations submitted by dellrox Aug 16 Why isn't vista available on the best Dell system? Have both as an option! 20 Comments » Ubuntu pre-installed on Latitudes Latitude products, Linux submitted by marshallpd Aug 16 Please pre install Ubuntu on all Latitudes. 2 Comments » TV Commercial for New Ubuntu PCs Advertising and Marketing, Linux submitted by josmar52789 05/03/07 Dell should produce a new commercial for the Ubuntu PCs. It could tell the consumers of America why Dell has chosen to pre-install Linux on mainstream computers and hopefully promote the advantages of this new endeavor. Plus, it's likely that Dell's Linux initiative would be much more successful. 117 Comments » Linux, Desktops and Laptops submitted by ntaylor0909 02/17/07 **REVIEWED**
I read the same question on Linux forums, all the time: What is the best brand of computer/laptop to purchase for Linux. I know that there is the n series of computers and notebooks, but it could go a step further. Accept the recent offer of free Linux driver development from the Linux Kernel Community so that DELLs "just work" with Linux. Maybe look at some ideas like LinuxBIOS and/or OpenBIOS. Become the OEM that everyone recommends. There is a growing market for Open Source friendly computers and DELL could own that market. coreboot (formerly LinuxBIOS) instead of proprietary BIOS Linux, Desktops and Laptops submitted by yesmathew 02/20/07
coreboot (formerly known as LinuxBIOS) is a Free Software project aimed at replacing the proprietary BIOS (firmware) you can find in most of today's computers. Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Desktops, Linux submitted by pawprintz 02/17/07 **REVIEWED**
How about a fast, Internet ready Linux desktop. Small form factor, pretty monitor, mouse & keyboard, the O.S., OpenOffice & Firefox. Desktops, Linux, Operating Systems - Multiboot submitted by arhere Aug 1
I LOVE the new Studio Hybrid PC's. Can we get it preinstalled with Ubuntu? This would drop the price even more and be a GREAT PC for surfing the Web and such. Include Matte Sunfilter for Glossy-Screen Laptops Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Desktops and Laptops submitted by tigerforce Apr 17 **ALREADY OFFERED**
Many people (including me) love Dell's high resolution, high contrast glossy laptop displays. However they can become annoyingly unusable under harsh sun or florescent lighting. It would be nice if Dell included an optional filter that could be attached to the screen to block glare. I think more people would get the High-Def screens if Dell did this. (I'm thinking of something similar to this http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/ComputerFilter/Home/ only with a matte anti-glare coating). Monitors and Displays, Vostro products submitted by winoffice Aug 2
Why do you offer THREE 15.4" Vostros, but not even ONE 14.1"?? discontinue all Celeron processors!!! Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Desktops and Laptops submitted by ptcase 04/20/07 I know that Celeron processors had their place in the computing world. Maybe they still in the educational arena where most have "dummy consoles" hooked up to a really fast T-1. With the edition of Vista now added to our headache, Dell please don't sell Celeron based computers with inferior RAM and other peripherals along w/ very unnecessary pre-installed programs. Most of them are useless and just piss of the customer or other repeat would be buyers. 18 Comments » Accessories (Keyboards, etc.) submitted by tawbb1 Jul 24 This is not exactly a computer idea, but sort of something new. I would like to be able to buy an electronic calendar for my sister, but I don't know if they are made. Not one for the computer, a calendar that is separate from the computer that she can hang on her wall and that will remind her say an hour ahead of time of appointments she has by voice. Basically one that says, "you have an appointment in one hour". I don't know if anyone even makes such a thing, but I think it would be cool for her to have it since she has 4 kids and has a hard time remembering appointments. Maybe other people could use it too. 2 Comments » Dell should offer a cheaper 14.1" notebook PC in the small business section Sales Strategies, Small Business, Laptops submitted by winoffice Jul 24
Why is it that in the small business section the cheapest 13.3" notebook PC is $749 but the cheapest 14.1" is $779. That means that 14.1" is a more expensive screen size than 13.3"?? It should be the other way around! And $779 IS WAY TOO HIGH of a starting price for the 14.1" screen size in small business notebooks. I have seen other 14.1" notebooks for far less, for $499/$599 if not less. Quit forcing McAfee subscriptions Software, Laptops submitted by kyliemanders Jul 26 I bought a 15" Studio laptop and was unable to order WITHOUT the McAfee $79 per year four year subscription. The first thing I do is uninstall. I would prefer to use Windows Defender. 6 Comments » Include a totally free ANTIVIRUS Software submitted by estebanhillcoat Jul 26

Foxconn, a major manufacturer of motherboards, has switched to not support Linux by feeding it bogus data: Service and Support, Desktops and Laptops submitted by bryce88032 Jul 27 If you offer online backup for new omputers and online storage for older computers then people will buy more Dell computers. Microsoft's Windows Live offers 5GB through its SkyDrive. 4 Comments » Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Healthcare, Desktops and Laptops submitted by mistasims Jul 28 I would love to help develop a device similar to the ipod or mp3 player that would allow you to upload your fitness profile(stats including age, height/weight, body fat, and circumference measurements) and download personalized workouts, tips, and video/audio training. memory card would allow for personal security and would be easily compatible with laptop and/or pc for printable results as well as allowing individual to monitor results at own leisure. 3 Comments » Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Laptops submitted by daewootech Jul 28
I think like a internal storage tray would be cool, like something to the sides of the touchpad that you could pop up and stuck things like money or a usb key other small items, also could be a nice hidden spot for internal connections like a micro usb reciever for the logitech mice or other small usb devices so you can have they plugged in all the time and not worry about breaking the usb port or key. track my votes
