An full XPS refresh and update to include these additions to existing specs:- Get Splashtop available on most if not all computers. Desktops, Linux submitted by he_the_great Jun 12 Splashtop is an integrated Linux desktop that lets you instantly boot your computer into an environment to browse the web and other tasks. I don't see any reason not to have it everywhere. 1 Comment » Dell Computers with e-sata ports Servers and Storage, Desktops and Laptops submitted by chasrome Jun 13 Dell needs to supply and announce the availability of desktop, notebook, and servers with e-sata ports to which the many available external drives can be attached. RAID (0 and 1) could be available especially for servers. The ports should support six foot cables (not just three foot). Comment » Modify the Trackpad design clearing the buttons at the bottom Laptops submitted by casiciaco Jun 14 Instead of the classical trackpad with the two buttons in the bottom, move the left button to the left and the right button to the right, clearing the bottom. In this way, the trackpad height is increased. It would also be necessary to expand the horizontal size of the trackpad in order to get bigger and more confortable trackpads. 3 Comments » One Configurator 2 Rule Them All! Dell Web Site submitted by q0987 Jun 14
Sorry about the title, I just couldn't help it. Sell all Products/Options in ALL Countries Dell Web Site, Sales Strategies submitted by missdiva Jun 8
As Dell is supposed to be an International Company, can it now get its act together and ensure that all Products/Options are available in every Country they sell to. XPS products submitted by jhaber Jun 10 I think it would be nice if the next XPS notebooks included an integrated graphics card that can be switched to, along with a Stealth mode that can be switched to (like your newest Alienware line). These modes would really increase the battery. The m15x gets 2:30 on a six cell... I think that you guys can do a lot better with the XPS line. 2 Comments » Make the "recent ideas" the default page IdeaStorm submitted by ccpljat Jun 7 I think this is what most people are interested in looking at. The popular ideas page doesn't change too much. But new ideas are constantly showing up. I for one go there first. 1 Comment » Streamline configuration of systems Dell Web Site, Sales Strategies submitted by sarena Jun 6
I am frustrated by the fact that, depending on how I *get* to the customization process (e.g. through "as advertised," "savings spotlight," or simply various entry points to the configuration process of the SAME computer), I get DIFFERENT configuration options. Depending on how I get to the customization screen I can get different CPU options, RAM options, hard disk options, graphics options...and of course, different PRICES. Notify Customer BEFORE Cancelling Orders Service and Support submitted by n4aof Jun 6 When Dell decides that they aren't interested in filling a customer's confirmed order it would be nice if Dell would bother notifying the customer (preferably before cancelling the order, but certainly at least immediately afterward). 2 Comments » A radio switch to turn on graphic card,or shut it off.... and depend on intergrated graphics Laptops submitted by kailer Jun 6
My laptop graphic card is eating up alot of my energy, that is what i realize.so it will be great if we can turn off the graphic card while we are not gaming but turn it on if we need it.... Software submitted by pilotbob Jun 5 Make dell computers have less popups. I have a Dimension and it has a lot of pop ups. This is very annoying. The computer would function much more easily with less popups. 5 Comments » Growing Gaming Community; Smaller Gaming Laptops wanted! Gaming, Laptops submitted by djdenny123 Jun 5
With technology improving each day to shrink laptop sizes, the demand for a smaller gaming powerhouse grows exponentially. With a good majority of gamers enjoying intense, crisp LARGE image gaming on their 17" behemoths, there are still those who'd love to take gaming to the ultraportable level. Systems nowadays offer decent gaming at 14" levels, or with the Dell XPS 1330, at the 13" level. But, some of us would still love to see a smaller laptop. Take the Sony VAIO TZ model for instance: right now it doesn't offer a whole lot of multimedia-based freedom, but the design is inarguably a sexy machine. I can put money down that gamers would love to be able to game on this ultraportable 11" screen. Dell: Support Open BIOSes for Linux Dell, Linux submitted by phubert 10/10/07 **REVIEWED**
An Open BIOS for Linux would free it from the DOS legacy code and speed boot times. Monitors and Displays submitted by dfoster Jun 4 I'm not sure if they exist but I think it would be helpfull to a lot of people if you could focus your monitor so that you wouldn't have to wear your prescription glasses all day. This would eliminate the pain caused on your nose and the sides of your head as well as rendering a lost contact or forgotten glasses indifferent to compleating your work. 9 Comments » Please make Ubuntu XPS Notebook cheaper than XPS Vista Notebook Linux, Operating Systems, XPS products submitted by dki May 26
Hi, Laptop Skins that produce solar energy Environment, Laptops submitted by danieljoerg Jun 1 How about producing/selling Sleeves that make solar energy usable to run Dell Laptops? 17 Comments » Laptops submitted by pablohs Jun 2 I can buy a mobile phone with integrated GPS but not a laptop? I would like to be able to buy a laptop with the GPS already integrated within the unit. I am talking integrated, NO a third party card + cables + antenna option. 3 Comments » Become a Linux leader, make Windows the option Linux submitted by jonsmirl Jun 2
Install Ubuntu on every box Dell ships. Make Windows into the option. Operating Systems submitted by kingnewby Jun 2 Windows Vista has been the greatest thing that has ever happened to Apple. The Apple OS is sleek and actually quite robust for what it is, and what is it but a BSD shell with a GUI and a few copyrighted mods. Apple is first and formost a hardware company. As a whole the population in general hates Microsoft, so why not take the Apple IS and use it as non- microsoft alternative. There is a whole underground community doing it already, so why not get together with Apple and work it out. It works great, and If I can hack it and make it work on my laptop that now quad boots with XP, Vista, OSX, and redhat, a couple of multi billion dollar companies should be more than capable. 10 Comments » track my votes
