At home/at business service should be made standard.

Service and Support submitted by winoffice May 6

On many Dell laptops, mail in service is the default option for warranty and support.

Now when it comes to service, nothing is more annoying than having to mail the product to get support. And on desktops, you offer at home/at business service as a standard option (and as the default). I think that the same should be done for laptops, and all Dell products actually. 5 Comments »

Introduce a "No Component" Option When Customizing

Environment, Service and Support submitted by fahdriyami Apr 23

Intoduce an option to not choose a PC component especially for the XPS Desktop Range, most of Gaming Consumers have already built a PC before and have some of the essential components already, for example, i already have a compatible Intel processor and want my Dell shipped without a processor to save money. a "No Component" limit should also be applied, and not all components should have this option. Talking from a business point of view, this could reduce electronic waste in the long run, however it could also reduce sales of the components which could upset manufacturers...
BUT, the earth is more important. 28 Comments »

Offer No OS Option on all PCs for Home / Small Business Markets

Operating Systems submitted by gear Apr 22

Why not sell PCs with no OS installed and just include the drivers disk for popular OSes that are known to work on it like (XP, Linux, and Vista).

I already have licenses for XP and Linux and I can install my own here.

Having the drivers disk would mean I don't have to download them. 3 Comments »

Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Price cut in Half, Dell needs to pass this on to customers

Sales Strategies submitted by hal2001 Apr 22

I think most of us who post here are smart shoppers and are going to be watching to see what Dell will do with this Intell price cut . Dell could play the Intell ball that's in there court now and bring back Dell sales and be a winner for the customer to. Let's see if price cuts start posting on their web site. Faster processors at lower cost equal better sales and happy customers. 4 Comments »

Inspiron 530 with Windows XP Pro and "DataSafe" for sale, on your Customize site ...

Inspiron products, Sales Strategies submitted by hal2001 Mar 22

Why can't we have DataSafe and Windows XP Pro brought back for sale in a customize Inspiron Computer, not everyone wants Vista or to be force to go to a higer price Dell model or business machine to get XP or RAID 1. I'm sure most of us in this site are well aware that Microsoft will be pulling the plug on XP, but XP and DataSafe are a perfect match and would sell! Give the customers a choice and give then what they want ...Let's go Dell ! 1 Comment »

Backlit Keyboards

Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Sales Strategies, Desktops and Laptops submitted by rarmasu 02/21/07 **PARTIALLY IMPLEMENTED**

I find myself many, many times in dark or poorly lit environments having to guess the various keys - would be fantastic to have a backlit keyboard - with backlit individual keys as the best option.

I would actually pay extra for that convenience if the option was available.
This could be done for desktops or notebooks.

Check out the white LED backlights on the <ahref>XPS M1730.
