By the way, I realize my idea is very similar to http://www.dellideastorm.com/article/show/10089951/Put_Ubuntu_on_sale_at_the_same_time_as_Windows_unfair_to_Ubuntu_sales_count_if_we_install_it_afterwords but it is slightly different.
I'm actually asking not just that an effect be achieved but that something be put in place to make that effect perpetually (and not on a case-by-case basis) in place.
Also that discussion got completely derailed and off-topic.

Actually this would be easier to do if the Ubuntu machines weren't segregated in their own little world. With the Linux options in a completely separate section there are too many things to keep track of. No wonder it keeps happening again, and again, and again. I think Dell should be commended for promoting Linux as much as they are, but it does seem like a bit of an afterthought at times.

I'd agree with you, except that this same thing happened with the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 as well, and in that case the Ubuntu model is side-by-side with the XP models.
