Perhaps we should ban it from church roofs too as it poisons so many people!
Lead solder is essential for good quality joints - lead free solders need higher temperatures (NOT therefore environmentally friendly), and don't 'wet' the metals to be soldered as well, leading to more dry joints and hence more waste in rejected items.
Lead in a Dell computer does not contaminate the environment in any way (unless you eat your laptop?). If you want better recycling facilities for old computers so as to reuse lead solder, fine, but banning it is stupid.
