What happened to SSD's on laptops??? By tleavit,  Jun 25, 2007

About a month ago Dell released info about the ability to buy SSD's on a few laptop models. If I recall right it was the Latitude D420 and D620. I never saw that option and I have been looking constantly. At that time I *did* find the 32 Gig Samsung drive up on the site (searching for it). It was priced about $600. A week later that even dropped off the site. What happened Dell? Now Samsung is releasing a 64 gig SSD hard drive. I believe this is one of the more important technologies to come out recently and I would buy those drive now on our business laptops for no more reason then battery life and durability. Lets get them back Dell.

In response to tleavit post on no SSD's on laptops - we do currently offer them on select Latitude models (D420 and ATG). These have been available since late April, and we are excited to offer them on a broader range of systems very soon.

Here's a link to a D420 with a 32GB SSD http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=us&cs=04&kc=6W300&l=en&oc=blcwg3h&s=bsd

Thats really odd, I have scoured the Dell site for months looking for that D420, is it hidden? I'm waiting for SSD on our standard D820. When you drop them in, I'll buy 2 with Vista that very day.

The D620's and D820's now have SSD's available, at least on my Premier page. I'd like to see some Intel Turbo Cache Memory, though.
