On FaceBook Dell Spot add something to denote it`s a Canadian site. By sugarbear,  May 13, 2010

I think Dell Spot should show on the page, that they are Canadian. There is only one small reference on the home page that shows where they are and it`s a Twitter link. Perhaps inside the Blue Dell circle, you could put CA. or the Canadian flag. Something to make the reader realize it`s not a US site.

I`ve detected a new bug since the maintenance update on IdeaStorm. By sugarbear,  Oct 10, 2009

I noticed on several new ideas, when clicking on the title of the post to read comments or look at votes, the poster`s name changes. Here are some that I found.
Offer Microsoft Security Essentials by diskserious.
Dell ebook by irkaz.
bad service from dell, never buy any thing from dell by farshine.
it`s how we care by sanjth.
Absolutely Terrible Customer Service and support by pythagoras.

My personal favorite was bad service from dell, never buy anything from dell,  because when I looked up at the title it had my name on it. Sorry Tron, for the extra work.

Update Your SSL Certificate! By aikiwolfie,  Sep 11, 2009

When trying to log in to IdeaStorm today not only did I get Dells message to reset my password due to a site upgrade. But before I even got that far Firefox denied me access because Dell hasn't kept IdeaStorms SSL certificate up to date.

To get here to post this idea and change my password I had to override the security settings in Firefox. Which defeats the purpose of using a secure browser.

You've already come out with the awesome Studio One 19 with a built-in touch screen monitor, but what if someone wants a touchscreen monitor but not the whole computer? Sell touchscreen monitors instead of just the whole all-in-one computer.

Dell Inspiron 17 should also get personalization with the design studio like with Inspiron 15, Studio 15, and Studio 17.  and add in the other studio and inspiron laptops into the mix as well.

Studio 14 (without the z): INCLUDE OPTICAL DRIVE DVD/CD By iamnotjamesh,  Jun 3, 2009

Well, as you know Dell just released the new studio 14z, which is slim but lacks a dvd/cd drive.  Dell acknowledges the fact that it doesn't have it but some people might want an optical drive.  Right now there is no dell 14" laptop with optical drive, well, not counting the inspiron 14 which is 2 years outdated and forgotten.  So Dell should come out with a Studio 14 with a optical drive, that is thicker, of course, than the slim 14z.  Some buyers prefer having a complete laptop with optical drive.  Overall, nice design on 14z, NOW JUST OFFER A studio 14" WITH OPTICAL DRIVE. and maybe offer a design update on the lowend inspiron 14 please.

Rubberize netbook case By jsglazer,  May 12, 2009

I love my Mini 9.  I run XP, office 2007, etc. and I use it more than my standard laptop.  However, it slides off my knee, gets scratched, etc.  I would pay extra (~$15) for a thin rubberized coating on the entire surface, similar to the coating often applied to PDAs, cases, or tools.

my idea is simple. do what you have done with the studio line, and XPS, and create a Product red edition of the minis - or just covers like the studio 15 and 17. this would add more choice the the mini range, and i think you would have many people buying them.

The new Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope GNU/Linux has many great features to make it a significant upgrade from the 8.04.

Some improvements are:
  • Much faster boot times due to ext4 file system and other optimizations
  • Cleaner graphics and a better notifications mechanism
  • Newer Linux Kernel
  • Improved Power Management
  • Improved cd burner application
  • Improved handling of multiple monitors, formerly a sore spot for Linux
  • Performance increases across the board
  • Better themes and backgrounds
I also suggest that Dell keep with the latest LTS upgrades yearly to remain cutting edge.

laptop adaptor squid PLEASE By physics teacher,  Apr 29, 2009

Dell:  PLEASE create a laptop power squid!  Schools using clusters or carts full of computers, and the cords are everywhere!

One brick with 4 or 6 laptop connections would be fantastic!  Less cords, less plugs, less mess, more efficient (one larger brick has gotta be less cost than 4 or 6 smaller ones).

We have carts of computers, each cart has 20-ish power adaptors snaking through, getting tangled, needing to be removed and put back, etc.  When we use the laptops in a science lab, we may have 4 on the same lab table, but we need 4 sets of adaptors/plugs/cables/powerstrips/pain!

First my compliments to Dell as one of the few companies that really listen to their customers!

Impressive numbers, starting in February 2007 and now having:

- Contributed  11,403 ideas
- Promoted  655,004 times
- Posted  85,209 comments

until now.

Very good how the community is updated via the blog which ideas are implemented but I would like to see how many ideas are implemented in total so far. Showing that in the numbers of the "General stats box" on the right of the screen would be interesting in my opinion.

This reduced size laptop should have all the features of the Studio 15 laptop.

Use Ubuntu Netbook Remix instead of the custom Dell application strip By jlnogo87,  Feb 9, 2009

Please use the netbook remix images on your netbooks. This will help users get used to a single simple UI developed for netbooks. The Dell strip is "ok" but seems tacky and out of place. Also please continue using teh 8.04 images not the 8.10. the non-LTS releases tend to have small glitches that case some serious headaches (PulseAudio). Thank you so much for listening.

Please include Ubuntu 8.10 with your linux systems! 8.04 is outdated. Do you intend to upgrade only when a new LTS comes out? 9.04 is almost here and you're not even up to 8.10. If system 76 and zareason can do it, why not you?
