Dell should reduce the amount of packaging used in most, if not all of it's products. While I can be critical of companies like Apple a lot of the time, one area in which they are really making strides in is reducing the amount of packaging used in almost all their products to the bare minimum - while still retaining a substantial amount of the rigidity a bulkier box might have had.
Just recently, a friend of mine got shipped his Inspiron in a box that was quite easily twice the size of the box the accompanying, and physically, much larger printer was shipped in. Even my 12" XPS M1210 was shipped in (not one, but two!) boxes larger than the size of the average desktop computer.
Dell has certainly made some significant strides in re-inventing it's product line, and it is time that innovation follows through to the rest of the customer experience.
Unnecessarily bulky packaging is not only bad for the environment, it can also tend to affect the customer experience too - having a series of boxes, sheets and Styrofoam between them getting the hands on their new product can make the slightest bit of a difference.
As an added bonus, with your products taking up less space, you stand to make significant savings in terms of warehouse storage and shipping costs. Getting more products out to the consumer faster, while being cheaper for you to!
