When I received my 32" lcd screen it had an extremely large amount of Styrofoam. Dell is working to be environmentally friendly, maybe they should consider a better packing material at least one that will biodegrade.

    Good!, But really believe that with biodegradable Dell saved from being a company that does not sell computers as before ?, I saw that this was the most voted and yes, it is a good beginning, but Dell does not sell packaging sells innovation and technology in computers.

    nowadays companies use air ballon type product to keep small delicate parts secure while shipping but big parts like monitor can only be kept safe by using styrofoam etc materials. i agree all company should do something aboout that. if one company take a step then others will surely follow that company.

    How about addition to biodegradable solutions - what if Dell would collect used packaging and recycle/reuse it? There are companies doing it, it is something like cradle to cradle system.

    I wanted to add that Dell is still making improvements to packaging.  Check out the latest Direct2Dell postabout Dell's 2011 Corporate Responsibility Report which discusses environmental efforts including the use of mushroom packaging.
