Since hp already use IPS display on HP envy 15. It'll be better for dell to use this technology for xps and alienware model. Do this for xps 15 and 17 and all alienware models please. Thx.

    Hi Guys,

I've been looking for gaming laptop for a while now and I would have already bought alienware 17" or 18" if it had an IPS screen.

Unfortunatelly I saw what IPS screen is capable of and don't want to spend my money on something that don't have it.

Please, make an update :) how long can we wait :)

The XPS L521X screen is not good.  An decent IPS screen would fix one of the few (but major) flaws of this laptop.

Nice to see the IPS request being taken more seriously.
The Alienware notebooks right now have mediocre displays for their price, and less affluent professionals or artists seeking a cheaper machine instead of the Precision series will definitely appreciate the greatly improved quality of IPS.

If you're going to price your machine upmarket, make sure it has upmarket components, Dell.

Right idea! alienware m14x display is a shame to Dell, despite nearly 300 cd/m2 brightness, you will feel stress in the eyes even in indoor light ( Dell actually combined a display with a mirror!) and viewing angles are not so good. Despite the fact that XPS series is the Dell's premium range, there is no IPS panel! And unfortunately m14x R2 shares the same display of m14x!

    What difference makes IPS?

I'd just like to add my name to the list. I've been going back and forth about buying an M14x, but after spending 15 minutes toying with it at a store, I won't until it has a proper screen.

i also hope this for xps 17 especially. since xps is the most favourite model of dell brand so i can says that dell could implement it. hehe

Indeed, capsule_gang! The screen is where you will have most of the focus, so if it's not good, the rest isn't as interesting, even if it's superior to the competition.

Also, I wanted to add that I've had a lot of friends look at my m11x and seriously consider it for their next laptop, but after further inspection of the screen (compared to the quality screens found in macbooks), they go with the macbook.  Most people don't understand the internals of the machine, they only see the screen.

I really need a better screen on my alienware m11x.  I want to upgrade to an m14x but really can't consider it until the screens get better with IPS or full RGB-LED.  For premium laptops, the current screen quality across the line is unacceptable.

I agree that IPS is desirable, but for gaming I would appreciate if DELL strived for a lower MS than 6 and add 120Hz for fluid motion and less ghosting.

The main problem with regular IPS displays is the slow response. There are some brands, like LG, who have made progress with IPS response, but the general IPS display is not stuited for gaming. This is why I'm worried that ALIENWARE/ DELL will go fro a display with really slow response, making the machine it's knit to undesirable for gaming.

why limit it to only an IPS display? Alienware needs a complete redisign (or at least a major update). I'm sure Alienware would sell a lot more laptops if they made their computers thinner, more power efficient, and yes, have a better screen and IPS display. PLEASE LOOK AT THIS DELL AND ALIENWARE, it would help everyone and be a win-win situation.
