Second hand retail has become a large part of the computer industry as the digital world moves forwards, and the financial world moves backwards. I believe that a simple, easily instituted addition to the current options for driver download would help to maintain the lifespan of the average computer. This would reduce waste, assist with brand recognition, reduce strain on the Drivers Download servers, and ultimately keep Dell computers in more homes for longer.
The short, simple solution to assist in computer refurbishing would be a packaged download for all drivers available to all desktops of a given operating system, and another for all laptops of the same operating system. This would create eight new download options, as follows...
Desktop Windows XP
Desktop Windows Vista
Desktop Windows 7
Desktop Windows 8
Laptop Windows XP
Laptop Windows Vista
Laptop Windows 7
Laptop Windows 8
Which could be easily loaded to flash drives for convenient installation to computers by refurbishing companies.
Many refurbishing companies, including the one I work for, download drivers for as many as eight computers per business day. With one large download, this could easily be bypassed to reduce the needed bandwidth for the Dell Driver Support website.
