Well, to be honest and all: I hate Dell computers. why? because I dont like the design.
And no, I am not an apple-fanboy since all they like is the looks of an computer, I have made my own gaming rig inspired by the Alienware.
So yeah; my idea:
Change out the ugly backplate for the screen and make it more likeable, you've hade the normal Dell logo with the circle around it for ages!

The "Dell" and the line will be lit up with a backlight or some sort (just like the mac, but "you dont say?" The thing that makes the mac sell so much is just the pretty design) so yeah, just an idea

@Cy_J tnx for the tips!
well, they are looking alot better than they used to, but I'm the kind of person who likes a clean and plain look, like the unibody concept (...).
So that being said I think it would look better if at least the body of the computer was in the same colo(u)r.
And the screen, if that was on the same depth as the frame (the line that goes all around the lcd.
As the consumer version, my opinion is to try to get them to be as thin as possible (without removing the dvd-reader) and make it smooth with no sharp edges (maybe abit more sharper than the inspiron you posted) and make the lcd go further into the edges if this is possible.

Most of the schools I have seen use the business models (Vostro, Latiude & Precision) rather than the consumer line but there are always exceptions. That being said, what are your views on the newer line up of Inspiron R and XPS notebooks.Oct 4, 2012 Comment Link

Thank you :)
Well, if the line would be like 3/4th of the whole backplate (from side to side) I think it would be nice :)
And to answear that question; I dont really have any experience owning a Dell computer, but we had some Dell laptops at my school, and nobody wanted to use them because they didn't look as good compared to the hp's (well, the hp's was a few years younger though)
But yeah, that is just my opinion :) make the regular Inspiron abit nicer to look at, and maybe they could catch on as the new thing to have!

Thank you for posting the idea. I fixed the photo for you. :)That being said, how attached are you to the size of the line under "Dell". I'm not an engineer but would be concerned about structural integrity. Also, like Dimitrios asked, what exactly don't you like about the design of Dell Systems?
