slim 15+ inch Alienware with no optical drive

Optical media is less and less important these days - so how about a sleek, thin Alienware 15" (full HD)/17"/18" with no optical drive.  That way we can fit in the power/cooling necessary for a top-end graphics card without the bulk of an optical drive that's only used every once in awhile.

Obviously keep the ability to load up the RAM and space for two hard drives (SSD/HDD) or mSATA/HDD

M11xR2 and M17xR3 owner who wants something in-between!

I agree, I have a m17x and m18x I am getting a little bored of the design now, I never use the optical drive. The Razor is a much better looking laptop, I like the lighted logo on top and that is all you need. I would like Alienware to just have the Letters AW on the lid lighted and no grilles in the front drope the alienhead, without the optical drive you can slim it down some, carbon fibre or alumium. It does not have to be as  slim as razor, but slimmer then what it is now and please add a 15.6 inch size because right now I would probably buy a clevo 15.6 over the Alienware 1,000 dollars cheaper and more portable. The 14 inch is a joke Alienware with that graphics card, just drop it alltogether.

I have a feeling that Alienware's just trying to milk out as much money as they can from customers by giving the option of upgrading to a Blu-ray drive. That or they're just waiting for the next iteration of CPU and GPU.

The laptop that I've been using for the past 2 years doesn't have an optical drive, so I've gotten an external optical drive. Even then, my primary use for it is for the extra USB port...But yeah, for the few people who actually use their drives, there are external optical drives you know...

I don't doubt that there are people out there that use their optical drive everyday, but I think it's safe to assume that's a minority.

Let's get an Alienware that competes head-on w/the new Razer gaming laptop!
