Hi,
Recently I was using the Dell Support Centre to update my Office PC Optiplex 390 with the latest drivers.
Most drivers listed under the Download page were suitable for my PC, except the Firmware for Seagate and Western Digital Hard disk. I had downloaded and installed first two Seagate firmware and later on found out that it is not suitable for my PC.
Before the Win7 booting, the error message Non System Disk, please strike any key to continue. I need to do this before Win 7 can start the booting. According to Dell and Microsoft forum, this is a BIOS issue and very risky and difficult to fix as data may be lost.
From this experience, I would like to suggest for a more accurate Dell Driver Update Utility that could accurately identify suitable driver for updating. Let say the PC hard disk is from Western Digital, the Seagate Firmware drivers should not be displayed at the download list. This is to avoid installing the wrong driver that may damage the PC causes some performance issue.
That ‘s all my feedback for the day, appreciate very much if Dell Technical Team could look into this area carefully and implement the necessary changes. This is very important for building customer confident in using Dell products and services.
Thank you
Low

This is a very, very, good idea. They will let you install anything without warning and leave you to deal with the aftermath. It beats all I have ever seen.
