A laptop is for moving : keep accessories (mostly AC adaptor)small and lightweight

I do not use Dell laptop anymore for one reason : they are too heavy to carry when one add all needed accessories, and mainly the AC adaptor.

If you want this laptop (project sputnik)  to be a successful laptop: do not forget that they are meant to be use on the go and that battery (even if battery life is long) should be charged occasionaly.

Try to design a small factor and lightweight AC adaptor. If possible :

  • make it usable with all DELL laptops (so that they could be exchanged on travel easily)
  • make the plug magnetically attached to the laptop (as the Apple MagSafe, which is the last good design choice made by Apple)
  • make it robust so that it can last longer that the laptop (and can be reused with the next one ;-)
