The new Microsoft Live Movie Maker Software that came with my Dell XPS 8300 desktop computer is a bad fit. My old Dell machine with Vista operating system worked fine. I could upload video, edit it with separate video, audio and title tracks and produce a really nice finished package. The new Live Movie Maker is junk. I cannot upload without getting a special patchcord, and I cannot make movies the way I used to. I had to upload a Vista version of Movie Maker from a third party vendor in order to do what I used to be able to do.
I would suggest that Dell talk to Microsoft to change things or get a different software package for people who want to upload video, do editing, and produce really sparkling home videos. And while you're at it, add a second video track to the one that comes with Movie Maker. That would allow a person to edit photos over a running video with audio -- i.e. cover the sound on tape with B-roll of what the person is talking about. There are thousands of journalists around the country who could used that software. It doesn't have to be as complex as Sony Vegas software, but not as simple and stupid as Live Movie Maker that came with Wiondows 7.
Thanks,
Doug Fox
