QA should ashamed of themselves to allow this to get out in the open. Was this even tested at all? It is nearly unuasable, slow, lags, freezes up, poorly written drivers. I even installed Windows 8 hoping it would improve, let me just say the Acer W500 is the standard of how a Windows tablet should perform, particularly with Windows 8. Dell must have looked on the outside and figured "Yep it's a great tablet" then sent to production because that seems to be the only QA that went into the device. I've been a Dell customer for a long time from laptops to servers, I'm surprised, even disgusted at how little effort was put out for this device, take some pride in your work. If and when you do come out with a future tablet I definitely better read the reviews and hopefully get a chance to try out myself, that way I'm not out $350.

Plus another reason I went to Windows 8 is because it's designed for tablet use for the most part, Windows 7 on a tablet is not the best experience to put it lightly. I figured being released late last yr, the Dell Latitude ST would be ready to handle Windows 8. Such a waste. It has such a nice, vibrant screen and and sleek looking but scrolling tiles and menus is choppy and occasionally freezes. I wish I could combine the best of both worlds, the performance of the Acer W500 and the look and feel of the Dell Latitude ST. (acer is a bit builkier and heavier although not too bad).Aug 21, 2012 Comment Link

I have installed the latest drivers and it's no better. The same issues exist in both Windows 7 and 8, the system actually is a bit faster on Windows 8 although still not up to par. It has a Dell wireless card which have more problems than most. I've ordered an Intel wireless card to see if it works any better. If you google this issue you'll find plenty of others who have the same issue even after updating the drivers. Not only the wireless but the system itself is just too slow and sluggish, can't believe it was selling for over $700 at release time. I have an older HTC Shift from 2007 that works better than this. Read the reviews even on dell.com, you'll see the same issues being raised and the only answers given by Dell are "update the drivers". No, why don't you make a better system and drivers in the first place? Learn from Acer.Aug 21, 2012 Comment Link

My point is that, if you were experiencing driver issues, the way to go forward is to seek out newer versions of those drivers (whether from their individual manufacturers, or Dell/Acer/HP/Fujitsu etc. themselves) instead of installing a new OS, because if drivers can't work with an existing version, chances are they'll be worse off on a newer one.Aug 21, 2012 Comment Link

It was even worse with Windows 7, a mature OS, lagged, froze. I even did a fresh install of Windows 7, worked a bit better than out of the box but still unsatisfactorily. And the wireless is horrible, just constantly disconnects and wireless card disappears at times and you have to reboot to get it working again. (A complaint I've seen all over the web). Like I said I have an Acer W500 which works perfectly with Windows 8, even older than the ST.Aug 21, 2012 Comment Link

Just a thought but if you're experiencing poor drivers, installing an immature OS is just looking to exacerbate those problems.
