i recently had to recommision two servers, one dell and one hp, that had been abandonded as all the raid drives had failed. after getting new drives, i realised i had no operating system discs. hp offered to send me replacements of the operating system discs that work with my COA, dell refused. result - dell server was binned, hp was recomissioned. if dell could supply copies of operating system media that would justify investing in dell i reckon.

Thank you for posting your idea armchairnavigator. I have forwarded your issue to the appropriate team to investigate.Since you have posted a follow up comment, I thought it would be a good time to point out a feature of the website to you. When looking at the comments on the idea, as the author you have the option to promote a comment to your idea to being an idea extension. This moves the comment to a section between the idea and the comments and lets us know that you consider the comment as part of your idea. It is a great way to evolve your idea over time through comments from the community or additional thoughts of your own.
While I'm at it, I see that you have filled out part of your profile which is helpful when reviewing ideas as it gives Dell additional insight into how you might be using your system (OK, maybe not so much with your current bio). You always have the ability to update your profile and to add an avatar. The avatar represents you and is shown with all your comments and ideas. This is a great way to stand out in the crowd and also gives a little insight to your personality.
Thanks again for posting and let me know if the team doesn't contact you in the next few days so I can follow up.

even better, design the server with an internal flash device configured as read only, that stores all the install discs so you never need the install discs - just boot off internal flsh device when you want to reinstall windows. maybe instead of BIOS having usual 4mb, make it 8gb and use most of it to hold windows install cd in read only mode.
