The new AMD Trinity APUs are require exactly the same socket (FS1) with same pin-layout and A70M chipset as the old Llano APUs. Need bios support for Inspiron i15RM and Vostro 3555 to be able to use these laptops with the new Trinity APUs!

Thanks everyone for the great comments!  Please note my following remarks:

    - CPUs have never been considered customer-replaceable components on laptop computers, which cannot be as easily disassembled and CPU-serviced like desktop computers.
    - Unlike desktops, there is an intimate relationship between a laptop processor and its associated thermal solution. (e.g. fan, copper tubing, BIOS fan table support, etc.)  Therefore, changing a CPU requires careful validation and testing to determine if compatibility is possible.
    - Dell has never supported customers upgrading their CPUs; therefore we wouldn't release a BIOS upgrade to enable doing so
    - Competitors are selling A10-based systems starting at $299. Assuming the APUs will eventually sell at retail for $125, (current price on desktop A10) does it really make financial sense to upgrade your APU?
    - Searching around the Internet and AMD's site, it doesn't appear that the A10 APUs being discussed here are actually available for individual retail sale--they're only offered in OEM systems; so, this whole discussion may be moot

Yepp, that is true A10 Trinity is the best selling laptop at Bestbuy. And that M6-1035dx not even a low budget category! Wonder why Dell do not need this success?

Guys, I know how you feel about decent Dell laptops with Trinity APU, because I've also had many promoted ideas with AMD, but none of worked out with Dell. I say when something do not wanna work, ain't worth to hassle with... Look around, because good alternatives are exist, like I having a Pavilion DV6 with full HD screen, backlit-keyboard with A10-4600M! or Pavilion M6 with A10 also a very good alternative, which actually the best selling laptop at BestBuy. And so on, look the linked lists from Honululu.

I would do anything for this bios support, I love my Vostro and do not wanna change to HP or whatever. It's also shame when AMD has so very-good mobile products, Dell do not wanna build laptop for it. Is this Intel cartel or what the ....... is going around here?

It is a shame we're still being ignored by Dell. Is it really too much to ask for an update?

I agree- and add dual-graphics support too! I have already submitted a similar idea here:

Unfortunately, I fear my  idea, although "under review" will remain in Dell limbo indefintely just as many of the other AMD-related ideas have. It is frustrating to be someone who cares about choice and is constantly ignored by Dell. One would have thought after the Intel rebate debacle that the company would do something to make it up to their users and investors.

No, we aren't asking for the world- just one solid, high-quality AMD laptop will all the options that it should have. So to the admins on here- please change the status of the all the AMD-themed ideas to "No plans" if Dell really has no plan to offer the products we are asking for. Please don't leave us hanging, hoping that Dell might actually implement our ideas.
