I'm very pleased with the purchase of a DELL 1350cnw (color laser network printer) for our home and small business needs. However as more mobile devices become the norm, it would be beneficial for Dell to provide support for printing from these types of devices.
HP, Canon, and Epson all have apps in Apple's App Store for iOS devices to print to those brands' networked printers. Where is Dell's app? It's difficult for me to recommend Dell printers to business associates, friends and family with such a limitation, "...cannot print from your cool new iOS (or Android) device." I'm more likely to recommend one of those other brands with wide selection of solutions for network printing across multiple devices and OSs.
It's going to be critical in the future for Dell to support on these OS's and alternative devices soon. Without it, fewer people will even consider Dell as a possible solution provider. The Dell network printers support a multitude of print server protocols. It should take minimal effort to code an app to check the local network (or even support VPN) for Dell printers and allow users to send files to it.
Overall, this should be an easy and low cost solution for Dell to expand their customer base. As the number of mobile devices start to overshadow the number of humans, Dell needs to capitalize on the opportunity. It would be a great selling point on all Dell's networked printers, "Print directly from your iOS or Android device."

Great news, not only do we now support iOS/Airprint on a number of models (with more coming soon), we also released our own Android Printing app (direct download). While we were unfortunatly unable to add support for every Dell printer model due to some technical limitations, the bredth of product supported goes back years and spans every product category. We will also ensure maximium compatibility with mobile and cloud printing applications where possible (and feasable) on future products.Paul Nicholson
