IdeaStorm would be more active, and more productive, if Dell itself participated more

Many people have lost interest in IdeaStorm lately, because IdeaStorm, the way it stands now, is, frankly, stagnant.

Tomorrow marks the day that 8 months have passed since the last Ideas in Action update. I'm sure many people have lost interest in IdeaStorm in part because they're lead to believe that their ideas are disregard/ignored now (or, have always been). I'd say they're not far off.

And the Storm sessions...we haven't had one of those in 2 months, either. And no response from Dell on the most recent one (customization versus FastTrack), even though IdeaStormers clearly called for more customization.

And it's not just like Dell doesn't implement any ideas now. I don't think Dell has even commented or updated many ideas lately, even the most popular or most requested ideas. For example, I've lost count on how many people have posted requests calling for Dell to return to 16:10 on more or all screens. I haven't heard much there, either.

The people running the place have changed, does that count? I'm sure Bill J will have something for us soon.

I see that every thing is, as it was before. Nothing really changes with Dell or IS.

Oh, one more thing, that isn't the most popular idea anymore thanks to your vote and votes from others.  :)

I think its just an idea that makes sense to people and hit the site at the correct time.  I haven't checked in a while but a while back the trend here was for people to come to the site and only hit one webpage before leaving.  It only takes 40 points to hit the most popular idea page right now due to the low volume of people looking at the recent ideas page.  If you are lucky enough to get to the front page you benefit from all the people who only hit that one page and vote.  This site should really default to the most recent ideas page or better yet a new home page which is a hybrid of all the different tabs.

    @rebel333,

This nonsense is getting more votes by the consumer and that is why it is in the most popular list. Good ideas don`t always get voted on and do get burried in the site.

Than why is this nonsense nothing the most popular idea?

Other more important ideas are going to the deep and we forget them...

Dell was O.K. for servers ... tho I found IBM support much FASTER than Dell's.

Dell tech support (U.S.) always seemed to have to REPEAT too much information (why ask for the service tag TWICE, for example?) and apparently had to do FAR too much keying when you had them online.

IBM also informed you WHICH center you were connected to.

@jervis.. yes, indeed, all of us around here always have that line about the OPTION to do things. just was voicing it wouldn't be an option I'd elect to use, maybe I spoke too broadly for others.

@phubert.. our own "company" vs. the Dell company - *HAHA*, yes. or, the almighty echo chamber?

We have a slightly dated ('08) Compaq laptop (for the wife) from BestBuy, and we're really happy with it as far as general entertainment use. Easily the best value, a steal at $550 including taxes. So, I know what you mean about HP. And, I've heard good things about Lenovo for business. I'm still all about Dell when it comes to high-performing systems for myself, though. Maybe I'm too much of a loyalist.

What?!?  Dell has even outsourced its customers who post on ideastorm!!!  :)

Sure some people from india are on the site but I wouldn't say they are the most active.

I've found problems with voters and ideamakers too. Like the most active folks are from India. Making many nonsense idea, voting these and demoting the good ones. I do not belive the most important question is the location of USB ports on a laptop or short of nothing.
Also consider the Americans and the Europeans have totally different lifestyle and interest than the Indians. Not to mention our economy. We need different computers than they are, ideastorm should not let them go so aggressively!
