Universal Drivers for all models, when possible

I suggest that Dell have drivers that work for all models but use the same drivers for the operating system.

Ethernet/Wireless adapter, have a Windows # 32-bit driver and a Window # 64-bit driver. Have the drivers for this adapter work for all models.

Dell QuickSet, have a Windows # 32-bit driver and a Window # 64-bit driver. Have the drivers work for all models.

Yes, chipset, audio, video drivers will be different, depends on the model but having the same drivers for each item(adapter, Dell QuickSet, etc...), it makes it more universal, easier for downloading the drivers for each item.

This would be nice, yes, but you have to remember that Dell doesn't always use the same components from the same manufacturers. For example, you might have an Intel PRO wireless in one computer, then the Killer 1202 wireless in an Alienware notebook - these wouldn't be compatible at all. Or, even, a nVIDIA GPU and an AMD/ATi GPU? Those two are built so different it'd be impossible to create a 'universal driver' for them without nVIDIA and AMD collaborating thoroughly (which is just a pipe dream).

While most components (such as wireless, audio, simple display, keyboard, etc.) can have a very generic driver (which is usually already available inside Windows, and especially so with Windows 8), any advanced features specific to the component or system usually will not work with a generic driver. Including the subsets for every possible component will result in bloated and sizable driver downloads/files.

I understand this is an old suggestion, but I thought I'd post my thoughts anyway.
