I had not. Aesthetically, it seems great. I would have to test it out or at least read some reviews to make a better judgment. In addition, I would have to see what comes in the driver disc and how it is stored.

Thank you for clarifying your idea.  While it does not cover all of your requirements, have you seen the XPS 13 Ultrabook that was recently announced?

    Cy_J,

As far as the design is concerned, make a laptop that will look like it belongs in a conference room filled with CEOs, CFO's, CIO's, etc. When Dell creates a laptop that businesses like, it immediately takes it down for some reason. Just take a look at the model Mr. Dimitrios’s recommends in his comment on my idea: Adamo. I immediately went to look for it and this is what I found: “This product is unavailable. Below we have suggested a like or better computer to satisfy your immediate needs”.

Most businesses want a laptop that can withstand travel. Therefore, we look for a product that feels sturdy, a metal or aluminum finish (like the E6410 and the Adamo) as opposed to plastic, no colors on the exterior other than black or silver, little or no brand stickers, an anti-glare display, a back lit keyboard, plenty of USB ports, good battery life (with extended/higher capacity battery available), and light weight.

In addition, since businesses like to standardization, please have your business laptop model available for 3-years (without changing hardware that would require new drivers) so that we can buy the asset with confidence that we will still be able to get the same model on our next order.

As far as drivers are concerned, please include a disc with an installer application where you can just click an “Install Drivers” button and be done with it. Also, please have a folder in the disc that contains only .inf files for ALL laptop’s drivers; this will make it a breeze to import the drivers into Microsoft Deployment Toolkit 2010 for volume image deployment.

    Thank you,

    Ricardo J. Ortiz

P.S.: Me, personally, I would prefer to have a scroll wheel (like a mouse) somewhere on the sides because it is difficult to scroll up and down on a document using multi-touch gestures when you are sitting in a plane.

Can you explain your idea a but further as to how Dell can accomplish this?
