Clean up the garbage on Ideastorm

Status: Partially Implemented

Promote

-Delete any ideas that are from companies sollicitating
-Delete any ideas that are from non-profit/charities asking for free stuff
-Delete any absolutely horrible ideas

After going through the latest 20 pages I started to get annoyed at the large amount of submissions that weren't ideas or were just so outlandish.

Will provide examples if asked in the comments

    I agree to those:
-Delete any ideas that are from non-profit/charities asking for free stuff
    -Delete any absolutely horrible ideas

    but I would
like to see, as AverageConsumer put it "companies ideas" , why - because when there is innovative product or new small company that has new rolling out solution (like Boston Sonata batteries with 3000 charge cycles that were first in HP business laptops) then it is significant to discuss it broadly. This is fast way to see whether people will dismiss solution/product or appreciate it in new hardware iteration!
It is also for them (companies mentioned) risk  of a)make fool of themselves    or b) gain interest.

“There are always going to be arguments from those who want to clear the clutter and those who are doing the cluttering.”

Those who want to clear the clutter are the ones attempting to IMPROVE the site and should HAVE A voice!

Those who want to clutter the site with “non-ideas”, are the ones who are DESTROYING the site and should have NO voice!

It is up to the OWNER of anything, to determine what is acceptable, and to interpret and enforce THEIR rules!

I’ve always maintained that ALL idea submissions should be screened before they are published. And ALL comments as well.

And to the usual unnecessary, inappropriate comments. Please don’t bother. I have no interest in anyone’s opinions about censorship in this instance. This site was created by DELL. For DELL’s purposes. And as such, is completely up to them as to what’s acceptable and what is not. Anyone who disagrees with that idea is free to create their own web site and rant all they please. Your site! Your rules!

I'm not going to defend each idea but I will say I understand your point completely.  We are currently in a transition period with me coming onto the site.  There will be changes coming but until the process is revamped I'm sticking to what was being done before I arrived.  The site has gone through these kinds of issues before when it comes to duplicate ideas cluttering up the site.  There are always going to be arguments from those who want to clear the clutter and those who are doing the cluttering.  Thanks for the examples.

    Come on Cy_J

Tell me this is an idea? Frankly its not, its someone telling Dell to contact them to get their idea.

Or this. Which is a sollicitation.
    http://www.ideastorm.com/ideaView?id=087700000004HTYAA2

Then we can go into the aburd ideas
    http://www.ideastorm.com/ideaView?id=087700000004HVyAAM

And here is what I mean by outlandish.
    http://www.ideastorm.com/ideaView?id=087700000004HaPAAU

And lastly where is the merit in this?

Ideastorm would be taken more seriously than it is right now if you would clean up this garbage and insist on some quality control with submissions.

No need for examples AverageConsumer.  The only problem is that different people will look at the same idea and have vastly different opinions on its merit.  I'd like to hear a few more opinions on this, anyone else want to discuss?
