XPS 13 Ubuntu Ultrabook: What I would like to see installed by default

Promote

  1. Editor:
    • Nano, with syntax highlighting for common programs enabled
    • Vim
  2. IDE
    • Eclipse, with GIT, Mercurial and PyDev plugins preinstalled
    • Aptana Studio
    • RStudio
    • Additional comments: It would be cool if Eclipse and Aptana studio come with plugins pre-installed that help in easy deployment to Amazon and other cloud providers
  3. Software:
    • Java 1.7 (JRE and JDK both)
    • gcc, with GSL and Boost libraries installed
    • Python 2.7 with the following packages installed by default
      • numPY
      • sciPY
      • matplotlib
    • RStudio
    • FORTRAN 95 with BLAS and LAPACK libraries preinstalled
  4. Hardware:
    • A video card where one may try out CUDA
    • Give me a 6GB RAM at least
    • Ideally a 256GB ssd
