Ok, well I know I may be chastised for bringing this up, but vista is still a young operating system with its own problems etc... I would like to see both Home and Business computers, especially notebooks have an XP Home and Pro option on top of Vista until it has at least been out for a year. For those seasoned users like me who just feel that you need to let a new OS mature before jumping right in. I am planning on buying a new notebook, and I would like to insure I wont have to format it on arrival just to have XP.

Yeah Vista is that bad. I get so frustrated when stupidly powerful PCs are struggling just to run the OS. I honestly and truely beleive an OS should not be making major demands on hardware. On the massively powerful PCs we have today, applications software should be taking up the bulk of resources. Granted the more eye candy you want the more demanding the OS will be. But Vistas good looks are a poultry offering compared to what Mac OS X and Linux can achieve for the same money or less.

Oh come on, it's not þat bad.Well, sorta. I had to use it for LabVIEW at an FTC workshop and Explorer kept freezing.
And this is on a computer that had Vista pre-installed.

I think if it were Vista I'd have cut my wrists by now. I've used Vista and have the mental scars to prove it.Oct 21, 2008 Comment Link

A whole second? Jeez, you should try to defrag it or check for viruses or something (whatever you XP users do).Oct 20, 2008 Comment Link

Well Imagine how fast my XPS 720 with it's 2GB of RAM and Intel Core 2 Quad is running Ubuntu. Now imagine my frustration when I'm at work and I move the mouse and nothing happens for for like a WHOLE SECOND! I'm forced to use a HP at work with Windows XP.Oct 20, 2008 Comment Link

Yeah, XP can be fast if you configure it right. Of course you'll always need more than 256MB RAM, i have a computer with 128MB RAM and XP on it is too slow for usability (but the same computer with sidux is insanely fast.)Oct 20, 2008 Comment Link

You'll likely be disappointed in Windows 7 too. It's basically a tarted up version of Vista. Microsoft aren't learning the lessons of bullying their consumers.1 2 3 4 5 ... 23 Next
